SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a mother and daughter killed by a YouTuber in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 805 filed a lawsuit this week against the teenager’s estate, the City of San Diego, and the County of San Diego. Eighteen-year-old Trevor Heitmann, known as McSkillet, drove his McLaren the wrong way on the freeway in August 2018, killing Aileen Pizarro and her 12-year-old daughter Aryana. The sports car collided with the family’s SUV, which burst into flames. In their lawsuit, Aileen’s father Miguel Pizarro and son Dominic Pizarro cited the County and City for negligence resulting in death. The lawsuit cites an incident the day before the crash, during which the San Diego County Psychiatric Emergency Response Team responded to a call claiming Heitmann was “screaming, paranoid, and delusional”. A psychiatrist, Dr. Mary Rusher, told police she had evaluated Heitmann and he was “a danger to himself and to others and must be immediately detained on a California Welfare & Institutions Code 5150 hold,” the suit stated. Rusher also told a police dispatcher Heitmann had displayed manic symptoms and appeared paranoid, delusional, out of control, and threatened to harm his mother in preceding days, according to the court document. “Police left the home without any evaluation of Trevor’s condition, or notifying PERT, if they were not part of same (PERT),” the lawsuit says. The suit claims the police officers were not exercising their authority to place Heitmann on a 5150 hold in accordance with the law. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The county's second case of measles this year has been reported, health officials announced Tuesday.The person was fully immunized but came into contact with an 11-month-old San Diego resident who contracted the disease after a recent trip to the Philippines.The second patient may have also exposed the public to measles at two locations, the County of San Diego Health and Human Services said. Early symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes. A distinctive red rash also appears one to four days after symptoms appear, starting on the face and head then spreads downward and outward. A person is considered contagious four days before the rash appears.Anyone with symptoms is asked to call their doctor’s office before visiting directly.Complications from measles are more common in children younger than 5 and adults 20 years and older, though the risk is higher with children. Complications include diarrhea, ear infections, and pneumonia. In severe instances, death can occur.Since there is no treatment for measles, the best course is generally bed rest, fluids, and fever-control medication. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The man suspected of killing his stepmother and burying her body in a Tijuana backyard has been arrested on probation violations.Aaron Seth Juarez, 20, was taken into custody in San Diego Thursday. He was also wanted by the Deputy Attorney General of Justice in Tijuana on suspicion of killing Fernanda González Serrano in February.San Diego Police are currently working to return Juarez back to Mexico.González was last heard from on Feb. 2. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Laurel Street Bridge at Balboa Park was closed late Friday after a fire started inside the bridge. At around 7:30 p.m., Park Rangers called the San Diego Fire Department after seeing smoke coming out of the side of the 105-year-old bridge. The closure caused great inconvenience for Old Globe Theater patrons trying to get to and out of Friday night's show. Season ticket holders Kenny Ard and Brian Moore barely made it to the theater, before the bridge was closed off by emergency responders. Witnesses saw firefighters carefully try to suppress the flames by opening the manholes on the road.“We kind of rushed when we saw the fire truck," Moore said. “I was like, I bet they’re going to close the bridge. So we hurried and made sure we got here.“San Diego Fire Fighters said the fire broke out inside of the hollow bridge. They have not announced the cause of the flames. However, this scene was all too familiar. Since its construction in 1914, the Laurel Street Bridge has caught fire several times. Many of the fires were started by transients who end up living inside the bridge. In 2017, several homeless people were rescued from inside a utility hole on the bridge.“There are access panels at the base and some on the sides, and so people get in there,” Moore said. While Are and Moore were able to avoid the jam getting to the show, they were not so lucky finding their way home.“My car is parked right on the other side of the bridge,” And said. “We’re going to have to take a Lyft because it’s a long way around.”The bridge had reopened by Saturday morning. 1601
