Sex crimes detectives in Las Vegas arrested 52-year-old Terry Gray for multiple counts of lewdness with a minor on Friday. Authorities say Gray was a gymnastics coach in Las Vegas between 2009 to 2015 and in 2019 he was suspended from coaching by USA Gymnastics. Anyone who may have been a victim of Gray or has information about his crimes was urged to contact the Sexual Assault Section at 702-828-3421 or Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555. KTNV's Jordan Gartner first reported this story. 508
Atlanta 1979 was the start of a series of murders that terrorized the city for two years. Nearly 30 African Americans, mostly children and some as young as 9, were found murdered around the city. Catherine Leach-Bell's son, 13-year-old Curtis, was one of the victims in a string of murders between 1979 and 1981. “It hurt because we loved our children, and it really hurt,” she says. Atlanta's mayor, Keisha Bottoms, announced investigators are going to examine old evidence, using new technology to see if they can learn more about the murder cases. Many of them remain unsolved. “I want some closure. I want justice. I want to know who killed Curtis,” says his mother. “His case is still sitting on the shelf getting dusty and rusty.” A jury found Wayne Williams guilty for the murder of two adults. After his conviction, police blamed Williams for being responsible for most of the child murders, but he was never officially charged for those crimes. Williams has maintained his innocence, and some question whether he is responsible for all of the murders. Mayor Bottoms' announcement comes just days before Investigation Discovery's three-hour documentary series about the case, which airs tomorrow. “We'd like to think that the buzz around the film may have had something to do with her decision, but most important is the fact these victims who have so long looking to be heard seem to finally have been heard,” says Pamela Deutsch, an executive producer for the show.Investigators admit they don't know what they'll find and if it will change anything, but they say they owe it to the families to try to use new technology to find any possible new leads. 1675
The holidays may be a bit different this year but New York City will still look like Christmas soon enough. The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has been selected and will soon be on its way to Manhattan. The massive tree stands at about 100 feet tall and hails from Oneonta in Upstate New York, where it currently stands under 24-hour surveillance until crews cut it down for the trip to the Big Apple.A likely scaled-back version of the annual Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 4."We want that to be a great experience," Mayor Bill de Blasio said at his daily briefing Tuesday. However, considering the pandemic, things will likely be done a bit differently to prohibit too much crowding throughout the holiday season."We'll get an update on how it will be handled, but we will take proper precautions," they mayor assured.A magnificent decorated Christmas tree has been lit and on display in Rockefeller Center every year since 1933. According to a Pew study, the number of online daters ages 55 to 64 years old has doubled from 2013 to 2015. "It's harder to meet people in your own age demographic," says matchmaker Michelle Frankel. However, Frankel says if you're looking for love, now is the time to begin your next chapter. "For those people who don't have a significant other, they start saying, ‘How can I make this different in 2019? What can I do to make changes?’ And the easiest and lowest hanging fruit is to jump online," Frankel says. The first Sunday in January has become the hottest day to hop online for dating because it’s the busiest. There are two types of online dating, according to Frankel. “The traditional and the modern,” she explains. “The modern is the apps on the phone: the Hinge, the Tinder, Bumble. The over 50 crowd, I would really steer away from that." As for traditional online dating, Frankel recommends sites like Match, eharmony and Our Time. When it comes to your dating profile, Frankel says to have three great photos of just you and eight to 10 sentences describing who you are and what you like to do. And whatever you do, she says don't say, “I can’t believe I'm doing this.” Remember, no matter how long it takes, Frankel says to trust there's someone out there for you. "It does truly work,” she says. “It really comes down to having the same values and wanting to spend your life the same way." 1431
