There is concern he could head back to the brig before his May 28th trial, even after the President intervened. Representative Duncan Hunter’s team was under the impression that his March 31 meeting with Chief Eddie Gallagher would have major consequences. "I am going to see why they are going to put him back in the brig if my staff goes and talks to Eddie Gallagher,” Representative Hunter said in a Twitter video. He told his followers he was going to meet with the Navy Liaison to get answers. Navy Commander Tamara Lawrence told 10News Gallagher now lives in another San Diego base, which they cannot disclose. She said his current pre-trial restrictions allow for "significant freedom of movement." Gallagher is allowed to walk anywhere inside the building and around the sidewalk. For anything outside that immediate area, he must be with an escort. She said Gallagher has unlimited access to his legal team and medical care. While he cannot have a cellphone or computer, he is allowed visitors and to make calls from a community phone. (KGTV) — Starting next year, military veterans will not have to pay adoption fees at California animal shelters, according to a new law.Senate Bill 245, introduced by Senator Ling Ling Chang, was signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, Chang's office said Friday. The bill calls on the state's animal shelters to waive adoption fees for military veterans. “This is a big win for veterans and shelter animals,” said Chang. “Our brave heroes deserve the same happiness, and I’m glad we can reduce the barriers for bringing together veterans seeking companion animals and pets in need of a home.”Under the law, shelters will confirm a veteran's eligibility using California's current "veteran" driver's license designation.SB 245 goes into effect Jan. 1, 2020.Chang's office touts the measure will greatly impact the state's two million veterans, some of who struggle with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and would benefit from having an animal companion.“As the saying goes, a dog is a ‘man’s best friend.’ When I’m home my four-legged companions are a part of my family. Guide Dogs of America is searching for volunteer puppy raisers in San Diego.GDA places puppies in foster homes at 8 weeks of age.  The volunteer makes sure the puppy receives the proper socialization to adjust to their important job later in life.Volunteers will attend a Puppy Orientation meeting and receive a Puppy Manual with “do’s” and “don’ts”. A bowl, brush, bone, leash, collar, ID tag, ID card, puppy jacket and 5-pound bag of dog food are included. Future items purchased for the puppy are tax deductible.
