The General Motors strike has caused a major disruption in the supply of auto parts to mechanics. Hannah Pelletier of Davis Auto Repair got the last brake module in her town to fix Chevy Suburban. “With the strike, we’re seeing parts take a week to two weeks,” said Pelletier.Pelletier said the typical wait is one to two days. “We normally get daily shipments and right now the shipments ha been sporadic,” said David Hunn, the service manager at Ed Bozarth Chevrolet in Aurora, Colorado. It’s not just the independent repair shops either. GM dealerships like Ed Bozarth's also in Aurora doesn’t know when their deliveries are coming. "Right now I’ve got three vehicles that are tied up waiting on parts,” Bozarth said.Hunn said one of his customers has been waiting three weeks to get their car fixed. There’s nothing he can do right now. He can’t fix it without the right pieces. In a statement, GM said dealers have a limited supply of parts, but that they're supplementing with inventory from wholesale dealers and other suppliers. The company says its ability to ship from distribution centers is limited. “Being an independent shop, our employees are very important to us. So if they felt they weren’t being taken care of we would want to do what we can because they’re what builds my business,” said Pelletier. Pelletier said she understands why the workers went on strike. But that doesn’t change the fact that she still needs parts to fix cars. “I would say if we had it for another month, that’s when we’re really going to start feeling it,” said Pelletier And dealerships like Ed Bozarth have been well stocked. “We do have a really good inventory plus we have two dealerships in town that we, we trade parts back and forth with,” said Hunn. But both David and the workers in his shop admitted that the lack of deliveries is putting a strain on them to get things done on time. 1905
The Lucas County (Ohio) coroner said 14-year-old Harley dilly most likely died the day he went missing. “There is no accurate forensic way of determining an exact time of death in such circumstances," coroner Daniel Cadigan said. Harley was found lodged in the chimney of an unoccupied home just steps from the Dilly family home. Last seen walking to school, police said it appeared Harley climbed an antennae tower to the roof and entered the chimney. His coat and glasses were found inside the home near a flue and on the second floor of the house. The coroner ruled Harley's cause of death as compressive asphyxia. Compressive asphyxia is when respiration is prevented by external pressure on the body.Authorities said his death appeared to be accidental. This article was written by Courtney Shaw for 814

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran's state television has issued its most drastic warning so far about the new coronavirus, saying the outbreak could kill “millions” in the Islamic Republic if the public keeps traveling and ignoring health guidance. The warning came in a bulletin broadcast on Tuesday afternoon. Roughly nine out of 10 of the over 18,000 cases of the new virus confirmed across the Middle East come from Iran, where authorities denied for days the risk the outbreak posed. Iran's supreme leader also on Tuesday issued a religious order prohibiting “unnecessary” travel in the country. 599
The 18-year-old who said that actor Kevin Spacey groped him at a Nantucket bar in 2016 took Snapchat video of the alleged assault, and investigators have that video, according to a criminal complaint filed in Nantucket District Court. The complaint from Massachusetts State Police details an incident between Spacey and a busboy at the Club Car, a restaurant and bar on Nantucket, late on July 7 into July 8.The busboy, who was 18 at the time, told Spacey he was 23 and studying business at Wake Forest University, according to the complaint. That night, Spacey bought him a number of alcoholic drinks, bragged to him about the size of his penis, and tried to get the busboy to go back to his house afterward, the accuser told police in the complaint.Later, as the two stood near the piano player in the bar, Spacey reached over and began to rub the busboy's thigh, the complaint states. Spacey then unzipped the accuser's pants and rubbed his penis, both in and out of his pants, for about three minutes, he told police. The busboy did not know what to do and did not want to get in trouble at work for drinking, particularly because he was under the legal drinking age, the complaint states. He said that he tried to shift away with his body and move Spacey's hands away with his hands, but Spacey kept reaching down his pants, the complaint states.During this time, he was texting with his girlfriend, who did not believe what he was telling her, the complaint states. So he sent her video on Snapchat of Spacey groping him, the complaint states. In his interview with police, investigators showed the busboy that video and confirmed his and Spacey's clothing that night. The allegations in the complaint match those of Heather Unruh, a former TV news anchor who said at a press conference last year that 1816
The Federal Aviation Administration will begin its own investigation of a deadly plane crash at an airport in Addison, Texas, in which a private plane crashed into a hangar Sunday killing all 10 people aboard, the FAA said in a statement.Addison spokesman Ed Martelle told CNN that the private plane was leaving the airport when it veered into the hangar before bursting into flames Sunday morning shortly after 9 a.m. local time.National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Bruce Landsberg told reporters during a news conference Sunday night that two victims were members of the flight crew and the other eight were passengers on the Beechcraft Super King Air 350 aircraft. The victims have not yet been identified as authorities are still notifying their families, Landsberg said.Members of the NTSB arrived on the scene to investigate the crash Sunday afternoon and began assessing the damage to the plane immediately, Jennifer Rodi, senior air safety investigator with the NTSB, told reporters. The plane suffered damage from the force of the impact and the fire that broke out after the crash, Rodi said.Rodi said the NTSB is aware of three videos of the incident and is currently reviewing them. She urged anyone else with video to send it to the NTSB for review. The plane was scheduled to fly from Addison -- about 15 miles north of Dallas -- to St. Petersburg, Florida, Martelle said. But just after take off the plane veered and crashed into a private hangar, damaging two aircraft inside, Landsberg said. The fire department was just 220 yards from the crash, Martelle added, so the response was immediate and the fire in the hangar was extinguished. No cause for the crash is known but a preliminary report is expected in two weeks, Landsberg said.Landsberg said the plane recently changed owners and the tail number information was not immediately available.Eight investigators with the NTSB arrived Sunday and five more specialists are on their way to assist in the investigation, Landsberg said. 2018
