YANGON, June 8 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese military delegation attended a two-day conference on security policies of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum, which ended in Myanmar's capital city of Yangon on Sunday.

Putin thanked Chinese President Xi Jinping for his personal effort to advance the China-Russia gas pipeline project and said the pipeline is the largest construction project in the world. Russia will cooperate closely with the Chinese side to ensure the construction of the project on schedule. Putin said Russia-China cooperation is at a very high level, and Russia is ready to continuously expand cooperation with China in energy and other areas.

The two heads of state are also expected to work together to lay out the course of future development of bilateral relations, said Qu Xing, head of the China Institute of International Studies.

The Security Council "should actively carry out political mediation and preventative diplomacy, promote parties concerned to resolve differences through peaceful means such as dialogue and negotiation, prevent and curb escalation of conflict, and work for political solution, thus to alleviate the sufferings of humanitarian workers from its root causes," said Wang.
