DENVER, Colorado — The body of the 7-year-old boy found dead inside a Denver storage shed last month was encased in concrete, two law enforcement sources have confirmed to KMGH television station. The state of Caden McWilliams’ body when it was found was first reported by The Denver Post and confirmed by KMGH via law enforcement sources from different agencies who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing. The coroner’s office has not formally identified the boy as McWilliams, but law enforcement authorities did so last week when they announced the arrest of his mother, 43-year-old Elisha Pankey, in the case.Pankey was charged Monday morning with child abuse resulting in death and abuse of a corpse in the case. She turned herself in to police last Wednesday. The boy’s body was discovered in a storage unit in the 5000 block of E. Evans Avenue in Denver on Dec. 23, but court documents and police have said the boy could have died as early as last May. Police and Denver Public Schools have indicated the boy missed the last week of school in May.The boy’s body was discovered inside the storage unit after Aurora police asked Denver police to help in a missing persons case involving McWilliams on Dec. 23. Aurora officers had arrested Pankey a day earlier on suspicion of drug possession charges.Pankey’s husband, Leland Pankey, was in court last week on charges that he strangled his wife in 2017. Leland Pankey was arrested on Dec. 21 – about a year after that original incident allegedly occurred. 1557

DEER PARK, Texas — A massive chemical fire that filled the sky with smoke and flames for days in southeast Texas has finally been snuffed out. But its effects could still be dangerous. The city of Deer Park announced a shelter-in-place order Thursday morning due to concerns about "levels of benzene or other volatile organic compounds within city limits."At least six area school districts have canceled classes Thursday, a day after the flames were extinguished. The Intercontinental Terminals Company said increased levels of benzene were detected early Thursday."These levels are below those that represent an immediate risk," ITC said."We have notified the surrounding municipalities, and out of an abundance of caution, Deer Park Emergency Operations Center has called for shelter in place precautions immediately for all of Deer Park."The neighboring city of Galena Park also issued a shelter-in-place order due to the elevated benzene levels, according to an alert on the city's official website. "We are actively monitoring the air quality and will continue to monitor the situation at ITC in Deer Park," Galena Park Mayor Esmeralda Moya noted in the alert.Acute exposure to benzene can cause headaches, dizziness or loss of consciousness, the 1267

Exposing skin to sunlight is a convenient way to meet our vitamin D needs, which is crucial for bone health. That might make you wonder: Does wearing sunscreen interfere with vitamin D levels and potentially cause vitamin D deficiency? The short answer is yes. But before you toss your SPF 30, dermatologists say the relationship between sunscreen and vitamin D is much more nuanced than that.According to Dr. Henry W. Lim, chair emeritus of the department of dermatology at the Henry Ford Health System and former president of the American Academy of Dermatology, if sunscreen is supplied in a thick layer it "can effectively block sunlight and cause a lack of vitamin D synthesis in skin," Lim said. A thick layer is defined as roughly equivalent to about 1 ounce, or the size of one golf ball, for the full body, he said."However, in the real world ... most people apply less than this amount," Lim added. In other words, "the 'in use' SPF is actually lower than the labeled SPF."So, you may not have to worry about vitamin D deficiency if you're not putting enough sunscreen on in the first place. 1113
