Abrams, when she was named the first female deputy commanding general of FORSCOM in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the U.S. Army reported.Now, Richardson will become the first female commanding general of the U.S. Army FORSCOM as Abrams steps down from his post, reported CNN affiliate WTVD.On Tuesday, Abrams announced he would be leaving his post to become commander of United States Armed Forces Korea. The farewell message was tweeted by FORSCOM."It has been an honor to serve these last three years as the commanding general, US Army Forces Command," Abrams' message read.Abrams also thanked FORSCOM soldiers for their work, as it increases "readiness of our Army across all three components -- regular Army, Army National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve."In her career, Richardson has served as an Army aviator, as the military aide to the vice president and as one of the Army's liaison officers to the United States Senate.CNN has reached out to the U.S. Army Forces Command for comment. 1606

Lindsay Clowes and Alex Leckie decided to take their ceremony to the edge in order to get married while guests stayed safe.The edge being the border between the United States and Canada, which is closed while coronavirus cases continue to climb.The Canadian couple held their October 10 ceremony on the water between the two countries, so friends and family from both sides of the border could attend.Some watched from St. Stephen Wharf in New Brunswick, Canada, while others were on the banks of the St. Croix River in Calais, Maine.Clowes’ grandparents got VIP seating, on a boat in the middle of the river. 710

Microsoft took legal steps to dismantle a system that has allowed criminal hackers to infect more than a million computing devices since 2016, in order to protect the 2020 election.The technology company obtained a court order from a federal judge in Virginia that gives Microsoft control of the Trickbot botnet.Microsoft, along with partners around the world, were able to make it so those operating Trickbot cannot initiate new infections or activate ransomware already in computer systems.Trickbot botnet is a global network believed to be run by Russian-speaking criminals, and is “one of the world’s most infamous botnets and prolific distributors of ransomware” according to a blog post by Tom Burt, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft.Burt says ransomware is “one of the largest threats to the upcoming elections,” and can be used to “infect a computer system used to maintain voter rolls or report on election-night results, seizing those systems at a prescribed hour optimised to sow chaos and distrust.”The move by Microsoft represents a “new legal approach” the company says they are using for the first time.In addition to protecting election systems, Microsoft says dismantling Trickbot will also protect financial services institutions, government agencies, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other businesses subject to malware infections. 1382

Mack Beggs defended his Texas wrestling state title on Saturday by winning the girls Class 6A 110-pound class, to the chagrin of some of those in attendance in Cypress, Texas, the Dallas Morning News reported. Beggs, who was born female, is a transgender male who is only allowed to wrestle against girls. Texas' University Interscholastic League requires that athletes compete in the gender listed on their birth certificate. Beggs told the Dallas Morning News that he has not gone through any gender reassignment surgeries. But that did not stop those in the crowd from heckling Beggs. "They're saying 'steroids.' They're saying, 'Oh, they're beating up on girls,'" he told the Morning News. "It just comes down to technique and who has the most heart. I put too much blood, sweat and tears, I put too much B.S. into this journey that I wanted to come out on top."If Beggs had his choice, he would be competing against boys. "What can I tell people? I can tell the state legislature to change the policy, but I can't tell them to change it right now," Beggs told reporters. "All I can hope for is that they come to their [senses] and realize this is stupid and we should change the policies to conform to other people in my position."Among those who believe it was not a fair bout was Beggs' semifinal opponent Kayla Fitts, who went 52-0 as a senior for Cypress Ranch High School. "The strength definitely was the difference. I didn't anticipate how strong he was," Fitts told the Morning News."I understand if you want to transition your gender," she added. "I understand that totally. But there's a time and a place."Part of the issue has been that Beggs is taking a low dose of testosterone.
