Forget the shirt and shoes; no service for people on horseback at Starbucks in Anthem, Arizona. A Valley girl is frustrated after trying to ride her horse through the drive-thru when the barista said nay. Aspen Cline had seen internet videos of others riding their horses through the Starbucks drive-thru and decided that's what she wanted to do for her birthday. Instead, she and her horse, Scout, were shut down by the barista who apparently wasn't into horsing around. "We weren't given a reason, just, "we can't take your order," said Aspen. "My friend and I were going to get frappuccinos for us and a cup of whipped cream for the horses." A Starbucks spokesperson told us, officially, their drive-through is for cars only. He said that policy is for animal, rider and employee safety. But, he also added that the horses caught the barista off guard and with a little-advanced notice next time they'll find a way to serve all creatures."We support Starbucks because they're very accepting," said Tandy Cline, Aspen's mom. Food banks around the country are overwhelmed. It has become normal in recent months to see hundreds of people or cars in a line stretching for miles outside food banks and pantries. Some people are even beginning to show up hours before scheduled food distributions."I came here at 11 o'clock and there was already three people in front of me,” said Michael Sell, who waited outside a drive-thru food pantry that opened at 1 p.m. near Springfield, Massachusetts.Sell is a retired mental health professional, who now relies on pantries in the region. He says he’s seen the pantry lines grow for months."It is almost incomprehensible how many people are hurting,” Sell added.“Every distribution we are running is out of food, and I am calling suppliers, and I'm calling food banks like, 'we need more food’,” said Robin Bialecki, with the Easthampton Community Center.Bialecki also works with the Western Massachusetts Food Bank to hold a drive-thru pantry several times a month. Every month the pandemic goes on, it has become more difficult to provide enough food for all the people in her community in need. There have been times where the pantry has had to ask people to take less food so they could help more families.“A lot of people who normally give during the holiday season, they're keeping that food,” said Bialecki. “They have lost their jobs.”Some people who used to donate regularly are now seeking help from her pantry. They will argue before a Florida appellate court on Tuesday that police legally made secret video recordings of Kraft having paid sex at a massage parlor in January 2019. A lower court judge ruled that prosecutors could not use the recordings. He said the warrant allowing police to install secret cameras inside the Orchids of Asia spa violated constitutional standards. Kraft is charged with misdemeanor solicitation of prostitution.
