Financial advisors around the country are offering pro bono help to those impacted financially by COVID-19, no strings attached. But despite the historic economic downturn, some advisors say they aren't getting many calls. "'Financial planning' evokes being wealthy, having stocks and bonds. And that's not necessarily the case," said Kristin Pugh, a senior wealth advisor in Georgia. She believes some people are deterred from seeking help because they have misconceptions about financial planning. Regardless of income, anyone with bills to pay and money to manage can benefit from this free help, Pugh said. Also servings as Director of Community Outreach and Pro Bono Planning for the Georgia Financial Planning Association (FPA), Pugh says doing this work is a personal mission for her."In short, growing up poor made it so I have a particular, want or need to help the community," said Pugh. "Just a deep empathy for the amount of financial illiteracy that's out there, because of my own experience growing up."The FPA reached out to chapters across the country to 1081

Gwyneth Paltrow is fighting back against a man who is accusing her of crashing into him and causing him serious injuries while skiing on a Utah mountain in 2016.Paltrow filed a countersuit on Wednesday against Terry Sanderson and in the documents obtained by CNN, the actress and GOOP founder claims that he skied into her.Paltrow "was enjoying skiing with her family on vacation in Utah, when Plaintiff -- who was uphill from Ms. Paltrow -- plowed into her back. She sustained a full 'body blow.' Ms. Paltrow was angry with Plaintiff, and said so. Plaintiff apologized. She was shaken and upset, and quit skiing for the day even though it was still morning," the claim states. 689

Four adventurous children aged between 10 and 14 packed a stolen family car with fishing rods and took off on an epic 600-mile road trip along the Australian coast, authorities have said. One of the children left a goodbye note for their parents before leaving for the mammoth journey, which ended several hours later when police tracked down the parked car along a highway in New South Wales, authorities told CNN.The kids likely shared driving responsibilities during the 930-kilometer (578-mile) trip from Rockhampton in Queensland to Grafton in New South Wales, police added, after taking a four-wheel-drive Nissan Patrol car belonging to one of their parents. The runaways were taken into custody at 10:40 p.m. on Sunday evening (8:40 a.m. ET) and could now face charges."It's a pretty big journey. It's a long way for a person to do it, but I suppose a couple cans of Red Bull and you're likely to do anything," inspector Darren Williams told CNN affiliate Nine News.Police triangulated a cell phone signal to find the vehicle, Williams said. "When we got there, they wouldn't open up ... they've come under notice because of illegal behavior, doing drive-offs at petrol stations," he added.Missing person appeals were made by police in Queensland after the children were reported missing. The journey made by the youngsters usually takes more than 10 hours, hugging the eastern Australian coast line and crossing through the cities of Brisbane and the Gold Coast. 1479

I offered both Pres Trump and VP Pence an opportunity to reassure Americans.Simple question: “What do you say to Americans who are scared?”Trump, to me: “I say, you’re a terrible reporter.”Pence, an hour later: “Don’t be afraid. FORT IRWIN, Calif. – The U.S. Army conducts tough realistic training at the Fort Irwin National Training Center in the deserts of California. There, you’ll find soldiers spending a 21-day rotation before they deploy overseas. “Our training area is bigger than the state of Rhode Island and its nickname is ‘The Box,’” said Sgt. Billy Dolan. “When they’re in ‘The Box,’ they’ll conduct 10 days of force on force training, followed by 10 days of live fire training,” said Lt. Kevin Lenahan. “This compound is supposed to give the rotational unit an urban fight.” According to the U.S. Army, the NTC training area contains an uncluttered electromagnetic spectrum and sprawls over 1,000 miles to facilitate large-scale maneuvering for Abrams tanks and other heavy wheeled and light mechanized vehicles. And, it possesses restricted airspace for aviation assets. This recipe cooks up the ideal site for the largest Army training exercises across the U.S. For some, they are conducting their final exercise prior to deployment. “A lot of my friends are getting deployed,” Dolan said. “Most of them are going to Syria or Afghanistan.” During one rotation, there are between 4,000 and 7,000 soldiers enduring intense training. “It gives the people who come here the first real world experience of what could happen without taking casualties,” Lenahan said. According to the U.S. Army, units are deployed to Fort Irwin for 21 days, 14 of which are spent in what is referred to as "The Box" (as in sandbox). It's the vast desert training area that includes 15 simulated towns and the previously mentioned tunnel and caves, as well as expansive gunnery ranges and tank battle arenas. The soldiers learn to navigate through civilians, insurgents, criminal networks and military forces, using what is known as Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES). It’s basically a form a laser tag and allows the units to train using blanks. NTC rotations incorporate a complex scenario design laden with social, ethical and moral dilemmas; the goal of which is to develop leaders while exposing them to multifaceted problems. Units training at the NTC face a complex hybrid threat. Units must face a near-peer opposing force, while taking on an insurgent force. At the same time, they must assist the local towns and villages in any way possible. 2347
