BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- It is necessary to amend China's Constitution in the new era, according to a communique issued after the second plenary session of the 19th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

The four-day workshop focused on "Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era" and the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress.

They held discussions on the document and decided to further revise the draft according to the discussions and to submit the revised draft to the second plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, to be held from Jan. 18 to 19.

It also showed that more than 60 percent of those surveyed recognized China's active role in BRICS and expected it to play a more active role.
