Attorney General William Barr took aim at his own Justice Department on Wednesday, criticizing prosecutors for behaving as “headhunters” in their pursuit of prominent targets and politically charged cases.The comments at a speech at Hillsdale College in Michigan amount to a striking and unusual rebuke of the thousands of prosecutors who do the daily work of assembling criminal cases across the country.Barr described the prosecutors as part of the “permanent bureaucracy” and said they were in need of supervision from “detached,” politically appointed leaders who are accountable to the president and Congress.“The men and women who have ultimate authority in the Justice Department are thus the ones on whom our elected officials have conferred that responsibility — by presidential appointment and Senate confirmation,” Barr said, according to his prepared remarks. “That blessing by the two political branches of government gives these officials democratic legitimacy that career officials simply do not possess.”As Attorney General, Barr has been aggressive in pursuing certain categories of prosecution himself, including seeking federal charges against those arrested in protests following the death of George Floyd. Ashland University in Ohio is offering a new ,000 scholarship to talented Fortnite players."Fortnite Battle Royale" will be offered in fall 2018 as part of the university's esports program.The AU esports team will be the first known program in the country to add the game to its official offerings. Head Coach Josh Buchanan is excited to add the popular game to the college's gaming titles."Fortnite appeals to both the core and casual gaming audience," said Buchanan in a news release. AURORA, Colo. – Police confirmed Monday afternoon that the man they shot and killed early Monday morning is believed to have shot and killed another man who’d broken into his home minutes earlier.The police shooting happened around in Aurora, Colo. Officers had been called the house on reports that a man had broken into the home.“Officers arrived to a very chaotic and violent scene,” Aurora Police Chief Nick Metz wrote in a news release issued Monday afternoon.Metz said officers who arrived at the scene heard gunshots inside the home and ran into an armed man. An officer shot the man, who died at an area hospital.After clearing the scene, according to Metz, officers found a juvenile injured inside and a man shot dead on the bathroom floor. The child was taken to a hospital for “serious, but non-life-threatening injuries” caused by the intruder, he said.Both men’s identities will be released by the Adams County Coroner’s Office, Metz said. The officer who shot the resident of the home is on standard paid leave.The investigation into the shooting will be conducted by the Aurora Police Major Crimes Unit, the Denver Police Department and the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
