A North Carolina animal shelter is looking for a forever home for one moody cat.According to a Facebook post from Mitchell County Animal Rescue, Perdita is available to adopt for free, but she dislikes a lot of things.Among the dislikes are "the color pink, kittens (yuk they are so chipper), dogs, children, the Dixie Chicks, Disney movies, Christmas and last but NOT least...HUGS," the shelter said. "She's single and ready to be socially awkward with a socially awkward human who understands personal space."The shelter also revealed what things she likes. They include "staring into your soul until you feel as if you may never be cheerful again; the song Cat Scratch Fever, the movie Pet Cemetery (Church is her hero), jump scares (her specialty), lurking in dark corners, being queen of her domicile, fooling shelter staff into thinking she's sick (vet agrees...she's just a jerk)," the shelter said. 918

A romance scam has claimed another victim, a woman hoping for some companionship, but whose Mr. Right turned out to be all wrong.Petronica Williams thought she found the man of her dreams on Instagram, a great looking, New York City-based fitness trainer."He inboxed me on Instagram," Williams said, "saying 'hey gorgeous, I want to get to know you.' "Her Romeo sent videos, showing him training some of the stars of the VH1 reality show "Love and Hip Hop." Williams couldn't believe he was interested in her, but he was.She says their messaging got more and more intense, and he wanted her to come to his fitness studio in New York. Unfortunately, first he had to go to Africa on a short assignment. That's when trouble developed.New friend needs money to get home"He said he was over there working as a fitness trainer on a contract," Williams said. "But he was stranded and needed a way to get home."He needed money fast -- specifically 0 for a plane ticket home from Africa. He promised to return the money to her as soon as he got back to the U.S.So a love-struck Williams wired it to him through MoneyGram, and figured he was on his way.But he soon messaged her again, saying the Republic of Benin, in West Africa, would not let him leave unless he paid his income taxes first."They won't let me go home because I owe ,500 in taxes," the trainer messaged her. Before Williams took the time to realize what she was doing, she said, "I sent him a total ,076." Only after he stopped texting her back did she start suspecting she had been duped, that her fitness trainer may have been conning her from West Africa all along. 1644
After voters in three states went to the polls on Tuesday to cast ballots in the 2020 Democratic nominating race, former Vice President Joe Biden took another giant leap toward becoming the Democrats' 2020 standard-bearer. The results of Tuesday's three-state primary will help Biden expand his lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders. The former vice president is projected to win the primaries on Tuesday in Arizona, Florida and Illinois. As votes were tabulated on Tuesday, Biden made a pitch to Sanders supporters, whom he'll need to win over in order to become president. "Senator Sanders and I may disagree on tactics, but we share a common vision — for the need to provide affordable health care for all Americans to reducing income inequality to taking on climate change," Biden said."Senator Sanders and his supporters have brought remarkable passion and tenacity to these issues, and together, they have shifted the fundamental conversation in the country."Sanders opted to speak earlier in the evening, addressing his plans on addressing the coronavirus crisis. As far as Sanders' plans moving forward, that is unknown. Both Sanders and Biden have been off the campaign trail for the last week, opting to host virtual town hall events for supporters. Sanders has used large rallies to create buzz for his campaign. With 93% of the vote in from Florida, Biden is winning with 61% of the vote, compared to 22% for Sen. Bernie Sanders. Biden also has a substantial lead in Illinois, up 59-36 over Sanders with 76% of the vote in. Biden has now won 19 states. A total of 441 delegates up for grabs on Tuesday between the states of Arizona, Florida and Illinois.Last night, Ohio announced it is postponing its presidential primary amid fears of the spread of coronavirus. Biden entered Tuesday with 898 delegates as Sen. Bernie Sanders trails with 745 delegates. To win the nomination, 1,991 delegates are required. 1922
An 18-year veteran of the Detroit Police Department has died after being involved in a shooting Wednesday on Detroit's west side."Today is a tragic day for the Detroit police family," Detroit Police Chief James Craig said while addressing media outside of Sinai-Grace Hospital. While clearing the top floor of the home, officers did not locate the suspect. As they were heading down the stairs of the home, the suspect began to open fire on the officers.
