After the rage and tears fans endured in the exhausting, exhilarating "Avengers: Infinity War," comic book movie fans need a good laugh. "Deadpool 2" provides just that.A blisteringly funny follow-up to the surprise 2016 smash, the sequel is a pure, unbridled expression of the comedic stylings of Ryan Reynolds, who had a hand in producing and writing. The fact that his expressions are covered up in a mask most of the time doesn't detract from his easygoing command. To watch the "Deadpool" films is to experience a comedic master at the height of his powers.Just as with the first movie, the humorous creativity is at play from the opening to closing credits, with dastardly joyous surprises popping out of every corner of the screen.WATCH: Deadpool dances in new Celine Dion music videoThere are so many references and fast-talking verbal gymnastics at play that you probably need to watch the movie multiple times to truly appreciate the intricacies and various levels on which the gags register. The movie gives the most to those who are obsessed with the comic book film culture to which the movie takes a satirical katana chops at Marvel, DC and even Reynolds himself to a pulp.As is the case with better comedies, the plot serves the humor, never detracting from the comedic momentum. The story is well-told enough to generate some semblance of an emotional core, but even that is mocked ferociously. Deadpool does show a bit of character development in this outing, showing a softer side when it comes to romantic love and fatherly guidance of young mutants. But at his core, Deadpool is still the death-dealing court jester that comic book fans have adored for decades. From the outset, the indestructible, motormouthed mercenary declares that despite the bombardment of dirty jokes, this is indeed a "family film," which itself is a joke that lays the groundwork for laughs to come later on. That's the genetic makeup of "Deadpool 2," which boasts mutant powers for eliciting abs-shredding laughter. If you can't handle dirty jokes, stay far, far away. But for everyone else, take a cannonball jump into this Deadpool. The water's fine.RATING: 4 stars out of 4.Phil Villarreal TwitterPhil Villarreal FacebookPhil Villarreal Amazon Author PagePhil Villarreal Rotten Tomatoes 2313

All that Lizabeth Birnbaum of Seven Hills, Ohio wanted was a little peace while taking care of her elderly father, but instead, she says she's been traumatized by hundreds of robocalls since the beginning of the year.Birnbaum said it all started when she answered a phone questionnaire, the robocalls started ringing her home phone every day."It's horrible, horrible, and it's every day, morning, noon and night," said Birnbaum."And they're threatening me for money.""The 'do not call' really doesn't help with these robo guys, they know how to get around it."Birnbaum said she contacted her phone carrier, and it helped her set up blocks, but the robo caller just kept turning to other phone numbers."That's when I decided to contact the Federal Trade Commission and file a complaint," said Birnbaum. The FTC reports robocall complaints from Ohio have now reached more than 275,000 annually, more than doubling over the past three years. The FCC recently fined one telemarketer 0 million dollars for tricking consumers into answering robocalls.Cleveland BBB President, Sue McConnell, said consumers should still sign up for the "do not call registry," contact their phone carriers about phone number blocking, but the first line of defense is to ignore the calls, and don't engage the callers in a conversation."If you get a phone call, and you look at your caller ID, and you don't recognize that caller, don't answer it," said McConnell."Because if you answer, now you've confirmed that it's a valid phone number, and that you'll answer."Still, Birnbaum believes more federal investigators are needed to slow down the growing robocall epidemic."It's a shame because a lot of people are elderly, and they take advantage of elderly people," said Birnbaum."Something needs to be done, it's not fair someone should be invaded in their own homes."  1935

After issuing previous guidance that encouraged schools to close in areas with high transmission of the coronavirus, the CDC is now emphasizing that schools reopen this fall. The guidance issued on Thursday is in line with a Trump administration priority to reopen schools this fall.“It is critically important for our public health to open schools this fall,” said CDC Director Dr. Robert R. Redfield. “The CDC resources released today will help parents, teachers and administrators make practical, safety-focused decisions as this school year begins. I know this has been a difficult time for our Nation’s families. School closures have disrupted normal ways of life for children and parents, and they have had negative health consequences on our youth. CDC is prepared to work with K-12 schools to safely reopen while protecting the most vulnerable.”Now in areas with, as the CDC calls it, "substantial, uncontrolled transmission" of the coronavirus, "Schools should work closely with local health officials to make decisions on whether to maintain school operations. The health, safety, and wellbeing of students, teachers, staff and their families is the most important consideration in determining whether school closure is a necessary step. Communities can support schools staying open by implementing strategies that decrease a community’s level of transmission. However, if community transmission levels cannot be decreased, school closure is an important consideration."In areas with substantial, controlled transmission, "Significant mitigation strategies are necessary." In addition, social distancing and face covering policies should be implemented, the CDC said.Previous guidance called for schools in areas with substantial community transmission (the CDC did not distinguish between uncontrolled or controlled) to, "Implement extended school dismissals (e.g., dismissals for longer than two weeks). This longer-term, and likely broader-reaching, dismissal strategy is intended to slow transmission rates of COVID-19 in the community. During extended school dismissals, also cancel extracurricular group activities, school-based afterschool programs, and large events."In previous guidance, the CDC called on schools to keep students 6 feet apart. But many classrooms do not have the space to properly socially distance students. The Trump administration’s response appears to be a 5 billion request to Congress. President Donald Trump said that the funds, in part, could be used for schools to open additional spaces and hire additional staff in order to help space students. The CDC said that the “best available evidence from countries that have opened schools indicates that COVID-19 poses low risks to school-aged children, at least in areas with low community transmission, and suggests that children are unlikely to be major drivers of the spread of the virus.”But that guidance contradicts a South Korean study published by the CDC earlier this week. The study said that while children under age 9 were less likely to spread the virus, youth ages 10 through 19 were just as likely as adults of spreading the virus. The study also found that closing schools in several Chinese cities, including Wuhan, that school closures and social distancing significantly reduced the rate of COVID-19 among contacts of school-aged children.“The role of household transmission of SARS-CoV-2 amid reopening of schools and loosening of social distancing underscores the need for a time-sensitive epidemiologic study to guide public health policy,” the researchers wrote. In its new guidance, the CDC said that extended school closures are harmful to children and can lead to severe learning loss, and the need for in-person instruction is particularly important for students with heightened behavioral needs. The American Federation of Teachers this week pointed toward a three-point plan that the US should implement for reopening schools.“Our plan details three conditions essential for schools to reopen,” wrote Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers. “First, the average daily community infection rate among those tested for the coronavirus must be very low. (New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has required the rate not to exceed 5 percent for at least 14 days.) Second, schools must employ public health protocols, including 6-feet social distancing, masks, deep cleaning and handwashing stations. Third, adequate resources must be available to enact these safeguards, including funding for additional nurses, guidance counselors and teachers to reduce class size.”But the CDC also weighed the concerns of the coronavirus against providing physical activity, food and safety for students. The CDC said studies project that the childhood obesity rate would increase by 2.4% if schools remained closed through December. This guidance comes as cases in the US steadily increased earlier this month, prompting coronavirus death counts to rise in recent days. The US had back to back days of more than 1,000 people reportedly dying from coronavirus-related illnesses, according to Johns Hopkins University. To read the CDC’s latest guidance, click here. 5184

After losing a child to a drug overdose, one mother prepares to save others through a program to teach people how to handle the anti-overdose drug Narcan."Maybe I'll be at the right place at the right time for somebody else," Pat Jorgensen said.Pat's daughter, Tiffany, died five years ago at the age of 29. She's left raising Tiffany's daughter."Not a day goes by that I don't think of her and miss her," Pat said. "When someone gets engrossed in a drug addiction, it's really hard coming out of it. It's the hardest thing to get off of. As her mother, I will always feel like what did I do? Maybe I did something wrong? It's been a very hard road. The whole family has been through a lot. It's not something you just get over."Pat and her son were among dozens who showed up to receive free Narcan, and training on how to use it to potentially save a life. The training session was held at the Water Tower in Milwaukee's Bay View neighborhood Wednesday night. In this case, the Aids Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW) has a Prevention Department that provided the free Narcan and training. The organization often gets requests from community and church group to host training sessions at no cost.Everyone who attended the meeting went home with three syringes and three vials of Narcan, as well as reminders on how to properly use it. 1349
