Zhivargo Laing has lived in the Bahamas all of his life. “I grew up on Grand Bahama,” says the Freeport, Bahamas resident. Just a week ago, Hurricane Dorian made landfall as a Category 5 storm, flattening homes on the islands. “This level of damage to all of these structures, we have not seen before,” Laing says.Laing and his nephew, Ellison Laing, are still dealing with the devastation the hurricane left behind.“The water came to our waist, inside the house,” describes Ellison Laing.More than 4,800 people have been evacuated, and more people are waiting to be evacuated. Shelters are over max capacity. One woman in the shelter is not only grieving the loss of her home, but her loved ones as well.“I had three people pass in my family: my brother and my mom and my [cousin],” she says.Fifty people have been confirmed dead following the hurricane. There are still 1,300 people missing.In Freeport, located 50 miles away from Abaco, the majority of homes are without power and running water, making it difficult to begin the rebuilding process. “Yeah, they said it’s contaminated, says Ellison Laing of the water.“When the water came up, so did the septic, actually came up, too.”So, for now, the family has to wait. (CNN) -- As Belgium experienced its hottest day on record on Wednesday, two men found themselves in a sticky situation -- trapped in a shipping container full of cocaine, the men became so hot that they called the police on themselves.Police were called to the port of Antwerp on Wednesday by the men, who were trapped inside a shipping container for several hours, a spokesman for Antwerp's shipping police told CNN.Temperatures rose to 102 Fahrenheit Wednesday, the hottest ever recorded in the country, according to the national weather service. Wednesday's record was smashed a day later, with 105.2 Fahrenheit recorded, according to the UK's Met Office."They called the police to get them out of there, because the container was locked from the outside," a spokesman for Antwerp's shipping police told CNN.The police were in for quite a surprise.  A Florida man has been charged with 144 counts related to cruelty to animals.The State Attorney's Office has charged 51-year-old Robert David Starkweather after investigators found what 77 cows, 48 calves, and 2 donkeys found on his Hendry County farm.Photos taken by the local Sheriff's Office showed animals as bags of bones."That's got to be the most horrific fate, worst way to go," local animal rescuer Carey Kendzior said. "These are massive animals and it would take months to let it get to that point of cruelty and neglect. There's no excuse."Rescuers came too late for some. There were 13 animals found dead upon arrival."I don't care who you are. No reason for you to be in charge of animals," Kendzior said.The Hendry County Sheriff's Office investigated the case with assistance from both the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Collier County Sheriff's Office. The animals were sized and were taken from the property and moved to another location.One calf died and five had to be euthanized due to their poor health conditions after being looked at by a veterinarian.Dr. Laura Braun is a vet in Fort Myers. Denney is flying out to San Diego, California, to accept her award on Monday, an honor she says she knew nothing about.“There are thousands of applicants, I didn't know I was nominated,” said Denney. “I became the 2019 unsung hero for the country so one person in the whole United States and it still just blows my mind that that's still a thing.”The award is for her lifesaving efforts that have made a difference in Taft.Out of thousands of nominees, Denney made the top 5 in February, and was awarded ,000.
