MOSCOW, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Russia's Proton-M carrier rocket was launched on Friday from the Baikonur space center in Kazakhstan with a Chinese communications satellite "AsiaSat-7", according to Russia's Federal Space Agency Roscosmos.Roscosmos' live broadcast on its official website showed that the Proton-M rocket atop the Briz-M upper stage was launched at 23: 10 Moscow time (1910 GMT). The separation of the satellite from the rocket was scheduled for 08:23 Moscow time (0423 GMT) on Saturday.The AsiaSat-7 which belongs to the Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company Limited (AsiaSat) located in Hong Kong, China, is a new generation satellite designed to replace AsiaSat 3S at the orbital location of 105.5 degrees East.The new satellite was expected to support a broad range of applications for the Asia-Pacific region, including television broadcast and VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) networks.

This is the message the Fiji Cancer Society is sending out this October, which is breast cancer awareness month, worldwide.Fiji Cancer Society Chairperson and breast cancer awareness month President Nirmala Nambiar said, "Fiji continues to have a high incidence of breast cancer deaths with large number of tumors presented to health professionals at a late stage due to the stigma of having the disease."In the first quarter of 2011, there were 46 new breast cancer cases recorded, whilst there were 33 new cases in the same period last year."The figures could be scary but one must understand that as the awareness increases in our communities the number of cases recorded increases," she warned.Men and women should be aware that age, obesity and family history are all factors that contribute to the risk of developing the disease.This October the Fiji Cancer Society has planned a number of events all targeted to raise awareness since the lack of information and education is dangerous.Nambiar said through partnership with the Ministry of Health, Oxfam Clinic in Suva and the Fiji Nurses Association, supported by the sponsorship of Colgate Palmolive, the focus this year is on reaching out to the rural community and making a difference to the lives of the poor and unprivileged."We have free checkups planned for the month at the major villages from Vunidawa, Korovou and Valelevu to Lami at the other end and hope that we will be able to support the women in this area who may not be able to have a check- up otherwise.According to the official, the society's western branch continues to arrange free check- ups with the support of the Patan Clinic.The awareness and free checkups have also been arranged for corporate organizations at their request and if we are not able to provide all this during October we will continue to schedule them for the following month.The Society's thanks go to Suva Private Hospital for offering half price mammograms for the month of October, Nambiar said, adding a common issue with Fiji women, according to doctors at the hospital, was the return rate."Once they hear the news that they have cancer, many women don' t return because of the fear of what's next. BEIJING, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- China's railway authorities said Wednesday that it would put 315 more trains into service on Wednesday to cope with Lunar New Year travel demand, compared with 159 on Tuesday.About 3.7 million passengers hit the rails on Tuesday, up from 2.29 million on Monday, the Ministry of Railways said in a statement on its website.The ministry expected a post-festival travel peak on Friday.The country's trains carried a total of 83.46 million passengers from Jan. 8 to 22, up 7.9 percent from a year earlier, the ministry said in a statement issued on Tuesday.The 40-day Spring Festival travel season kicked off on Jan. 8 this year, with hundreds of millions of people, mainly migrant workers and college students, heading home for the most important festival in China.A total of 3.16 billion passenger trips are expected during the year's travel rush, up 9.1 percent from a year earlier. Of those journeys, 235 million are likely to be made by train, up 6.1 percent year-on-year.The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on Jan. 23 this year.
