More than 120 people were taken into custody Wednesday night in Louisville during demonstrations following the announcement of the grand jury’s decision in the Breonna Taylor case. A police statement describes vandalism, fires in garbage cans and the looting of several stores as the reason for some of the 127 arrests.Two officers were shot and wounded Wednesday evening, both are expected to survive and a suspect is in custody. A citywide mandatory curfew of 9 p.m. was in effect Wednesday night.Larynzo Johnson has been charged with two counts of assault on a police officers and other charges in connection with Wednesday's shooting. An arrest citation says Johnson was among a crowd of people in Louisville that had been told to disperse. The citation claims Johnson intentionally fired multiple times at officers, hitting two. President Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday night he is “praying for the two police officers that were shot," shortly after news of the shooting. 985

More than 40 percent of attendees at an overnight summer camp became infected with Covid-19 within days before officials shut it down, according to the CDC.Local media reports it was a YMCA camp near a lake in Rabun County, Georgia.More than 260 staff and campers tested positive for the coronavirus, out of a total 597 people who were at the camp sometime between when it opened and when it closed in mid-June. Of the 260 who tested positive, 231 were campers aged 6 to 17 years old.In their report published Friday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says camp officials followed most of their recommended safety protocols. They say the two measures not implemented were cloth masks for campers and opening windows and doors for increased ventilation in buildings. Masks were required for staff members.The camp held orientation for staff members and trainees between June 17 to 21, then were joined by hundreds of kids on June 21 for a week-long camp session.On June 23, a teen staff member left the camp after developing chills the night before. They tested positive for Covid-19, and the camp began sending kids home on June 24. The entire camp was closed June 27.The camp was adhering to Georgia’s Executive Order that allowed overnight camps and required negative coronavirus tests less than 11 days before attending.“These findings demonstrate that SARS-CoV-2 spread efficiently in a youth-centric overnight setting, resulting in high attack rates among persons in all age groups, despite efforts by camp officials to implement most recommended strategies to prevent transmission,” says the CDC report on this outbreak.From the 136 cases where the CDC was able to gather symptom data, about 26 percent of those who tested positive for coronavirus had no symptoms at the time. 1804

NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A mother of three shown in a video being detained by Customs and Border Protection agents was released Tuesday on her own recognizance.Shortly after 9 p.m. Perla Morales-Luna and her daughters shared a tearful reunion. A judge said that Morales-Luna, 36, isn’t a danger to society or a flight risk. During the family's reunion, she did say "Thank you" to the press but had no further comment. The video showing Luna’s detention made rounds on social media earlier in March. More than seven months after Hurricane Irma a Vero Beach, Florida woman is still feeling the effects of the damage.Her vehicle was totaled from flooding and sold. But that sale is still costing her because of one item she left behind on the car: her license plate.Now, her family wants to keep anyone else from making the same costly mistake.Jamie Portell’s mother lives at Indian River Estates assisted living in Vero Beach.Portell rode out the storm with her mother there.The next morning, they realized her mother’s car flooded.“The seats, the electric, she couldn’t adjust anything,” Portell explained. The carpet was soaked.They called the woman’s insurance company, State Farm, and said someone came out, looked at the car, totaled it and arranged for it to be towed away.About a week later, Portell said she took her mother to a local State Farm location to pick up a check.“We didn’t think anything more about the car, until about four months later she received, from the state of New Jersey, a bill with the picture of the back of her car,” Portell said.The letter was a toll road fine.“She was very upset not knowing what had happened to the car,” Portell said.  They called State Farm and asked the agency to take care of the mishap.“Another 3-4 weeks later, she gets another bill from the state of New Jersey with another picture of her car,” Portell said. It was another fine.“Called the insurance company again and said 'I thought this was taken care of, can you please look into it, ' ” Portell said.This month, they did not get a bill and hope this matter has been resolved.But, they learned a lesson.“Definitely remove your plates. You don’t think about those things needing to be done, you just assume your agency is going to take care of that,” Portell said.A State Farm spokesperson told Scripps station WPTV in West Palm Beach in a statement: "While I am unable to speak to the specifics of this claim due to customer privacy reasons, I can share in general that we typically encourage customers to remove all personal belongings and items from the total loss vehicle prior to being towed, including their personal license plate. State Farm works with an auto salvage vendor to dispose of the salvage vehicle in the form of a salvage sale. If personal property was not removed from the vehicle, that property may remain on the vehicle throughout the sale. We encourage customers to contact their claim representative should they discover personal property has remained on the vehicle, so measures can be taken with the customer to help track down personal property." 2633
