BRASILIA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor Jia Qinglin on Thursday called for closer cooperation between China and Latin American countries to bring more benefits to both sides.     Addressing the Brazilian National Congress, Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said it is a firm and steady foreign policy of the Chinese government to strengthen solidarity and cooperation with Latin American countries. Fourthly, he said the two sides should strengthen cooperation and coordination on multilateral occasions in the spirit of seeking common ground while reserving differences.     In his speech, Jia also expressed China's standpoint on the issue of climate changes, a theme he considered as a great challenge to the survival and development of the entire humanity.     China, a developing country with sense of responsibility, calls for international community's common efforts to tackle climate changes through practical and effective cooperation, he said.     The Chinese government has recently unveiled its reduction target of greenhouse gases emissions, an evidence of the maximum effort China is able to make, and the most sincere will of the 1.3 billion Chinese people in hopes that positive results may come to reality at the Copenhagen conference, said Jia.     Aloizio Mercadante, representative of Brazilian Senate President Jose Sarney, said in his speech that to strengthen the bilateral cooperation will be conducive to the development of two countries, the recovery of the world economy as well as the world peace.     Brazil is the last leg of Jia's four-nation visit, which has taken him to the Philippines, Peru and Ecuador.

BEIJING, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on Tuesday urged political advisors to contribute their wisdom to China's social and economic development.     Political advisors should watch closely the domestic and international economic situations and problems that China had in the process of development and put forward wise and pragmatic solutions, Jia said.     He urged political advisors at all levels to carry out in-depth study on the key issues including macro-economic policy, environmental protection, public resource distribution and reform of the income system.     Jia made the remarks at a chairman's meeting of the CPPCC National Committee.

BEIJING, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- China hopes the upcoming China-EU summit will promote strategic mutual trust, said Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun on Tuesday.     Zhang said, the summit to be held on Nov. 30 in the eastern Chinese city of Nanjing is the highest level of dialogue mechanism between the two sides, and it has a unique and leading role in the development of China-EU relations.     At the invitation of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, European Commission President Jos Manuel Barroso, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, whose country currently holds the rotating EU presidency, and EU High Representative Javier Solana will attend the summit. Both sides will exchange views on bilateral relations, global financial crisis and climate change.     Zhang said China hopes the summit will actively enhance strategic mutual trust and both sides will be more determined to support each other's choice of path of development.     China also hopes the two sides will make a general blueprint for the dialogue and cooperation in various fields and show the world their cooperation on global issues including trade protectionism and climate change, Zhang added.     China and EU have common or similar views on major international issues such as upholding multilateralism and promoting world peace and stability. They enjoy a sound basis of cooperation on promoting reform of international financial system and coping with climate change, Zhang said.     According to the Foreign Ministry, Chinese and EU leaders will attend the signing ceremonies of a series of agreements on science and technology, economic and trade, environment protection and industry, and hold a press conference after the summit.     The upcoming 12th China-EU summit is the second of its kind in 2009 as the first one was held in May, and it is also the third time for the leaders to meet in 2009 since Wen visited Europe at the beginning of this year.

SIEM REAP, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met here with Cambodia's deputy prime minister on Sunday and voiced China's willingness to push for a higher-level relations with the country.     During the meeting, Xi said bilateral friendship could date back to ancient times and both sides have maintained close contacts. Describing the ties as an example for friendly cooperation, Xi said the Chinese side is willing to enhance cooperation with Cambodia in various fields and push bilateral relations to a higher level, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples. SHANGHAI, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama will start his four-day China visit Sunday in Shanghai, and the highlight of his visit in the eastern city will be broadcast live by Xinhuanet, the online news service of the Xinhua News Agency.     This is Obama's first visit to China since he took office in the White House more than a year ago.     Obama is scheduled to meet with Chinese youth on Monday in Shanghai, during which he will pick up a number of questions out of more than 3,200 put forward by China's Internet users over the past two days.     The whole event will be broadcast live online, according to the Xinhuanet.     Obama will arrive in Beijing on Monday afternoon.
