MORGAN HILL, Calif. -- Authorities are investigating what exactly caused a plane to land on the freeway in the Bay Area Sunday morning, according to The Mercury News. The plane landed on Highway 101 near Morgan Hill around 11 a.m. The plane blocked one lane of the highway before authorities were able to tow it away.The Federal Aviation Administration said engine failure caused the emergency landing.Only the pilot was onboard and was uninjured, authorities confirmed. MINNEAPOLIS — A truck driver who drove into a large crowd of protesters on a bridge in Minneapolis following the killing of George Floyd has been charged with two criminal counts.Prosecutors charged 35-year-old Bogdan Vechirko, of Otsego, Minnesota, on Thursday with making threats of violence and criminal vehicular operation.On May 31, Vechirko drove his fuel tanker truck through a crowd of protesters who had shut down a bridge on I-35 in Minneapolis. Even though thousands of pedestrians were on the bridge, Vechirko continued to pull forward.Video from the incident shows that one protester stumbled near the truck, and that's when Vechirko says stopped out of caution. Protesters then attacked him and vandalized his truck.The Star Tribune reports that the charges allege he sought to "scare" protesters out of his path. In addition, the charges also allege a re-enactment with a similar truck showed he would have had plenty of time to stop after seeing the crowd on the highway.Vechirko claimed he was returning from a fuel delivery south of the city and didn't mean to drive through the protests. He also claims that he wouldn't have been able to immediately stop the truck ahead of the crowd without the use of a handbrake that could have caused it to jackknife and cause further injuries. 1308

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) have arrested a 21-year-old man suspected of killing a nurse on a local highway as she drove to work earlier this month.Caitlyn Kaufman, 26, was shot and killed on Interstate 440 on Dec. 3 as she drove to her job at St. Thomas West Hospital. Her death shocked the city of Nashville and garnered national attention.On Friday morning, MNPD Chief John Drake announced that SWAT members took 21-year-old Devaunte L. Hill into custody earlier in the day without incident at Hill's East Nashville apartment. Hill has been charged with criminal homicide. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A spokesman with Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) says unless changes are made to the city’s pandemic plan, there’s very little officers can do to enforce mandates at a private residence.The party, which caught the attention of Chad Boseman and his friend Andy, happened across the street from their house on Fern Ave. in East Nashville Saturday evening.“There was just tons of everything. Whatever you can think of a party, just times 20,” Andy said.They weren’t sure what they were seeing at first when people began lining up at the door. All they knew was they wanted to see for themselves. They walked over to find a party with what they say was easily more than 200 people.“I’m still recovering from this night,” Andy said.Promoted as the big unveiling for The Fashion House intended for photoshoots, people showed up to snap pics and even get tattoos.Boseman and company say they were there from 11 P.M. to 3 A.M. before MNPD officers arrived. Boseman says once people noticed cars were being towed, people began to leave.When approached by reporters, one of the homeowners declined to comment.Later in the day, one person claiming to be a homeowner posted a Facebook message saying he contacted police beforehand, and there were no violations. The homeowner ended the statement with “nothing illegal was done or the police would have stopped it.”MNPD said officers wrote citations for those parked illegally in neighboring driveways, but they did not write any citations related to the coronavirus mask mandate.Metro Nashville Public Health says it is investigating but won’t say what rules may have been broken.Not that any of the neighbors we talked to were too concerned.
