LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- "We ended up getting separated by our teacher because we talked too much." Andrea Davis laughs about the early days of her relationship were her husband, Jared Davis, when the two met in an 11th grade English class at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego. Their ease of conversation continues into married life and their careers, as they share the overnight shift in intensive care at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa."Having your spouse be in the same profession as you are, they get it," said Andrea. "They get the day-to-day."Or in this case, the "night after night," attending to patients in need of the most critical care, including those struggling with COVID-19.Jared recalls one patient, younger than himself, who fought for months before finally making a comeback."It was rewarding to see him recover even though it was a very long and slow and tedious process for him," said Jared. "But just to see that, I think that was one of the hardest things to see someone that was younger than you just be affected by it so much."As for their own health, the couple says Sharp has a strict regimen, including the right personal protective equipment (PPE) to insure safety."They do their best to make sure that we're taken care of," said Jared.And the couple support each other."With COVID, there was so much unknown in the beginning of it, that we had to take all these special precautions," said Andrea. "And we got to share that with each other. 'What are you doing? OK, what are some extra steps we can take to keep us extra safe?'"While their work requires strict protocols, there's room for sensitivity. The nurses say iPads have been loaned to families so they can visit their loved ones virtually.And Andrea has helped patients look their best to feel a little better. "It's one of my things I love to do," she said, "Especially men's 5 o'clock shadow, I love getting rid of that. You know, just basic needs. They're anxious and they're at their most vulnerable state when they are in the intensive care unit."From 7 at night to 7:30 the next morning, Andrea and Jared Davis are part of the local story of intensive care, of COVID care, in San Diego."How rewarding it is," said Andrea, "to help others when they're at their most vulnerable and at their all-time low. It keeps us energized."And the Davis family is growing. The couple expecting their first child, a baby girl, in February. LA MESA (KGTV)- Friday evening could have been one of the last times the community sees the farmers market on La Mesa Boulevard. On Tuesday the La Mesa City Council will vote to determine the future of the farmers market. Scott Strickland is a vendor at the La Mesa Farmers Market and has been for four years. Strickland tells 10News, “it would be about probably 25 percent of my gross revenue.” Strickland does not want the farmers market to leave La Mesa Boulevard. The farmers market has been at this location for one year and Strickland says it’s been the best location for the vendors, “I would say maybe 10 times the money we were making over there.” Friday, 10News tried talking with business owners who oppose the farmers market being on La Mesa Boulevard. They all have brick and mortar locations that they say are suffering on Friday evenings. One restaurant owner showed us empty tables during their happy hour, another shared they had to cut down staffing on Friday nights because they were losing about three thousand dollars. Both sides are prepared to attend the meeting on Tuesday night and share their concerns and financial burdens with city councilmembers. 1184

Las Vegas Police said they received calls about a person with a gun at the Boulevard Mall Thursday evening.No injuries have been confirmed, and no reports of shots fired. The mall was evacuated while officers made sure the person with a gun was not inside the mall. Police told the media during a press briefing that video has been obtained of a person wearing a mask with a long gun. (KGTV) - More women are coming forward after a 10News investigation revealed a La Jolla restaurant owner was arrested Wednesday on 18 counts that include raping an unconscious victim and forcibly drugging a victim. Daniel Dorado is the owner of Bird Rock area's Voce Del Mare, an upscale Italian restaurant. He's now behind bars, held on 0,000 bail.Thursday, a woman who didn't want to go on-camera told us she applied for a bartending job at the restaurant a couple of years ago, but was so uncomfortable with Dorado that she declined the job opportunity. She tells us he asked her over the phone about her body type and whether she'd wear revealing clothing. She tells us the inappropriate conversation led to more harassment, after he apparently called and yelled at her that night for being unable to meet in-person. RELATED: Woman accusing restaurant owner of rape comes forward10News also spoke to a woman Thursday who says she worked at the restaurant for a brief time and also claims to have been treated inappropriately. She wanted us to protect her identity, but revealed, "He wanted to know what I was going to be wearing to work. He wanted me to take a picture of [my outfit] and text it to him." She says she quit after a few shifts.Both women felt uncomfortable with Dorado, but say they were horrified after watching a 10News exclusive interview Wednesday night with a young woman who claims he drugged and raped her three years ago when she came into the restaurant to interview for a hostess position. Her attorney says she is one of at least four women that Dorado is charged with assaulting. Dorado is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday. 1715
