(KGTV) -- Democrat Juan Vargas has won reelection to the U.S. House in the 51st Congressional District, the Associated Press says. He faced Republican Juan Hidalgo. Juan Vargas was first elected in 2013. He served on the committee of financial services and the committee of foreign affairs from 2019 to 2020.Vargas previously served on the State Senate representing the 40th District, the State Assembly in the 79th District, and the San Diego City Council.Hidalgo is a retired US Marine. He faced Vargas in 2018 with Vargas capturing 71 percent of the vote.The district includes all of Imperial County and the southern part of San Diego County including National City, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, and El Centro. 721

The agency tweeted around 11 a.m. that a skydiver was injured near Otay Lakes Road northwest of the glider port. Cal Fire later confirmed that the skydiver died while crews performed CPR. (KGTV) — A 0,000 truck belonging to DJ Marshmellow was stolen Wednesday before the suspect led authorities on a pursuit from Malibu to the San Fernando Valley and crashed.California Highway Patrol said the suspect was seen driving on the wrong side of Malibu Canyon Rd. around 9:40 p.m. and led CHP officers on a chase along eastbound 101 Freeway. Eventually, the suspect exited the freeway in Sherman Oaks, before traveling into Van Nuys.The suspect drove through the parking lot of a Taco Bell restaurant, before crashing the truck into a light pole near the intersection of Coldwater Canyon Ave. and Vanowen St. at about 10:10 p.m. The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Edward Cruz, surrendered peacefully to CHP after crashing. He was booked on suspicion of grand theft auto and felony evading police, according to the Los Angeles Times. Investigators said drugs or alcohol may have been involved.The custom-built black Ford F-550 6x6 was stolen from a dealership and belongs to Marshmello Music, CHP told the LA Times.Dave Sparks, the truck’s custom designer, posted a video on Instagram saying he had been contacted by Marshmellow's team about the pursuit after he had left it at the dealership to be serviced.City News Service and the Los Angeles Times contributed to this report. 1299

(KGTV) - A San Bernardino County woman is suing the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and state Natural Resources Agency for not acknowledging the existence of Bigfoot.Claudia Ackley told The Press-Enterprise she ran into the long-fabled creature while hiking in Lake Arrowhead last year. Ackely said she was hiking late one March day when she and her two daughters ran into a Sasquatch."I ran into a Sasquatch – a Bigfoot. We were face to face. He was 30 feet up in the tree," Akley told the paper. "He looked like a Neanderthal man with hair all over him. He had solid black eyes. He had no expression on his face at all. He did not show his teeth. He just stared at the three of us."Ackley said her daughter told her she saw two other creatures run away following the encounter, adding that her daughter captured the encounter on video - which Press-Enterprise published online."People have to be warned about these things. They are big," Ackley said.
