(KGTV) - Solar panels are set to become a far more common sight atop homes in California.The California Energy Commission is set to adopt the new building energy standards that, in part, will require all new homes constructed to include solar panels.The mandate would affect all single-family and low-profile (three stories or less) homes, condos, and apartments that obtain building permits after Jan. 1, 2020.RELATED: Top candidates for California governor lay out plans to address affordable housing issueThe commission estimates new homes will cut energy use by more than 50 percent under the solar mandate.The standards also include updates to ventilation, nonresidential lighting, and heat transfer standards. Consumers may see an added to an average monthly payment but save an estimated on monthly heating, cooling, and lighting bills under the new standards, according to the commission.In California, solar panels can cost homeowners between ,928 to ,340 on average, according to Energy Sage. A billboard located near a busy highway in Kentucky was vandalized with an anti-gun message on Monday.Commuters on I-65 in Louisville noticed the billboard read "KILL THE NRA" on Monday morning. The billboard also read "RESIST 45," an apparent reference to President Donald Trump.According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, the owner of the billboard, Outfront Media, said the billboard had been vandalized that that the graffiti had been immediately removed. 473

(KGTV) -- Tuesday, SpaceX launchged several satellites into orbit that will replace a satellite network and monitor climate change. The Iridium-6/GRACE-FO satellites were launched just before 1 p.m. from Vandenberg Air Force Base. For this particular mission, SpaceX launched five Iridium NEXT satellites as part of the company's campaign to replace the world's largest commercial satellite network. A total of eight Iridium NEXT launches are planned with the company that will send into orbit 75 new satellites. Also on board the Falcon 9 rocket will be satellites that will monitor the movement of earth's mass for NASA and the German Research Centre for Geosciences.Watch the launch in the player below:  775
