LA JOLLA (CNS) - Two passengers riding in a speeding car died today when the vehicle hit a palm tree on Girard Avenue, police said.The crash happened at 3:16 a.m. when the driver of a Nissan Altima was speeding westbound on 1000 Torrey Pines Road, said Officer Dino Delimitros of the San Diego Police Department.The 26-year-old man driving the Altima made a left turn onto 7500 Girard Ave., lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a palm tree, the officer said.Two male passengers, ages 19 and 21, received major injuries and died at the scene, Delimitros said.The injured driver was taken to a hospital and will be held on suspicion of driving under the influence, the officer said. 696

Jo Grayson said she was alarmed when her son, Thatcher, came home from his middle school covered in cuts and bruises.Earlier in the day, Thatcher's teacher texted Grayson to alert her to an incident involving him. (AP) — The lawyer for the Kenosha police officer who shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back says his client told investigators he thought Blake was trying to abduct one of his own children. Brendan Matthews, the attorney for Officer Rusten Sheskey, told CNN that Sheskey also said Blake was holding a knife as he leaned into the SUV on Aug. 23 and that he opened fire because Blake “twisted his body toward” him. The Kenosha News reports that Blake's uncle, Justin Blake, said Saturday that the claim Blake was trying to kidnap his own child is "Gaslighting.
