(KGTV) — California is taking its time before issuing guidance to allow the state's theme parks to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic.Wednesday, Gov. Gavin Newsom said the state was not planning to issue such guidance soon, despite reports last week that rules that would allow the shuttered locations to reopen would be issued soon.Disney Chairman Bob Iger recently left the state's economic recovery task force, an early indication that business leaders for the industry could be at odds with the state over reopening. According to the Associated Press, Erin Guerrero, executive director of the California Attractions and Parks Association, said amusement park leaders wanted changes to a proposed draft they reviewed this month."There’s disagreements in terms of opening a major theme park. We’re going to let science and data make that determination," Newsom said, adding that he wasn't "surprised at all" that Iger left.Newsom said the state is continuing to work with the industry and would approach theme parks with a "health-first" framework, but was not in a hurry to release rules."We are going to be led by a health-first framework and we’re going to be stubborn about it," Newsom said. "That’s our commitment — that’s our resolve. We feel there’s no hurry putting out guidelines."He added that working to put out appropriate rules would depend on local data."It’s very complex. These are like small cities, small communities, small towns. (KGTV) - Disney fans will be able to get their fill of toys, games, accessories, clothing, and other merchandise this fall at 25 Target stores nationwide. The entertainment giant is opening what it describes as “shop-in-shop” locations starting in October, according to Target officials. Disney’s store experience in Target will include music, interactive displays, photo ops, and a Disney movie clip screening area. 450 items will be available, including 100 products that were previously only available at Disney retail locations, Target officials say. (KGTV) - A group of people sprang into action to catch a young girl who slipped off a ski lift in Big Bear.This past weekend, video shot by Instagram user explosive_comics_art showed a 5-year-old girl dangling from a chairlift during an outing at Bear Mountain Ski Resort.Moments later, as the girl was coming dangerously close to falling off, being held by only her hoodie by a ski instructor, according to ABC Los Angeles affiliate KABC, as she dangled above the ground.RELATED: San Diego native and wife caught in Squaw Valley avalancheA group of people below rush off and bring back a tarp to create a safety net for her to drop down to. (KGTV) — A high-speed pursuit took San Diego Police from Mid-City to La Mesa Thursday before the driver abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot.San Diego Police were pursuing the driver on Interstate 8 before he exited the highway at Spring St. in La Mesa, at about 5 p.m. The driver continued to drive in and out of traffic on surface streets before rear-ending a vehicle and fleeing the scene on foot. Police told 10News they tried to stop the man, later identified as Dontae Smith, 28, in connection to a burglary. During the chase, Smith ran into several cars before getting out and running across train tracks. Police began combing the trolley station at Date Ave. and Spring St. as well as a nearby residential area.At about 5:15 p.m., police took Smith into custody. Police say they found a gun in his car.Police says Smith is the suspect in a burglary reported in the 4400 block of Dawson Avenue. An officer tried to pull over a vehicle matching the description of a suspect vehicle leaving the scene. Instead they say Smith raced off.Smith is facing several charges including prowling, violation of parole, evading police, and other charges stemming from the pursuit.
