 Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said Sunday that President Donald Trump's downplaying the threat posed by Russia's meddling in last year's election was dangerous to US national security.Speaking on CNN's "State of the Union" alongside former CIA Director John Brennan, Clapper said: "The threat posed by Russia, as John just said, is manifest and obvious.  People around the U.S. experienced some internet downtime on Monday. The outage was brief and service has been restored.The culprit was a configuration issue from Level 3, a telecommunications and internet service provider owned by CenturyLink. In a statement to CNN Tech, CenturyLink said a "configuration error" disrupted service and technicians restored service in 90 minutes.CenturyLink declined to provide further details.Though Level 3 was responsible for the issue, it affected other internet providers like Comcast. That's because Level 3's infrastructure delivers content for other internet services.Comcast said the service disruption to its Xfinity internet service has been resolved.According to reports from Down Detector, a website that monitors internet outages, Comcast and Level 3 connectivity was impacted nationwide beginning around 10 a.m. Pacific.Other internet service providers including Spectrum, Verizon, and AT&T showed a spike in connectivity issues, too, though they were not as widespread. (AT&T has agreed to acquire CNN's parent company Time Warner, and the deal is pending regulatory approval.) It's unclear if the spikes were related to the Level 3 outage.The website does not provide numbers of people affected.Following public complaints of widespread outages, rumors temporarily circulated online that the outage was a coordinated hack of some sort. Glendon Oakley was shopping for a jersey Saturday when a child came into the El Paso, Texas, store and said there was a shooter at the nearby Walmart.Oakley told CNN no one in the store, including him, paid attention because they didn't understand what the child was talking about. Oakley said he then walked to another store.That's when things went wrong."I just heard two gunshots and a whole bunch of people started running around and screaming," Oakley said.As mayhem erupted over the next five to seven minutes, the armed Oakley planned to go with others who ran out of the store toward the gunshots."But I see a whole bunch of kids running around without their parents. Only thing I think of is pick up as many kids I can as possible," Oakley said.He and another man began corralling children. There were about 13, Oakley said, but he could only carry three."I was just focused on the kids, I wasn't really worried about myself. So just put my head down and just ran as fast as I could," he said. "They were anxious, when they were in my arms, they were trying to jump out of my arms but trying to keep them as tight as possible. They are kids, so they don't understand what is going on."Once he saw police, he said he let the kids go and pulled out his phone "in case they were going to shoot me and started recording while I was running."Oakley said he wasn't concerned with his safety, rather getting the children out of harm's way."I was just thinking about if I had a child and I wasn't around, how I would want another man to react if they saw my child running around," Oakley said.Oakley told CNN affiliate KFOX that he did what he was supposed to do and he doesn't want the limelight on him."I understand it was heroic, and I'm looked at as a hero for it, but that wasn't the reason for me ...," he said as he broke down in tears Sunday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — More than 40 people marched into the streets Friday, to protest rent hikes, claiming it could put them out on the streets. Residents of the Morley Street Apartments in Linda Vista received notices in February about their rent increasing in May. The rent increases range from 0 to 0. Raphael Bautista of San Diego Tenants Union calls it abusive rental practices. He says the substantial rent increase started when MC Properties bought the complex. In a letter to the tenants, they explained rent hikes are due to increased taxes and insurance fees. 10News reached out to the property group for further comment but has not heard back. “The rents are between 15 and 40 percent increases, that’s gouging,” Bautista said. He says the larger problem is that it’s legal, and that’s something the group is trying to change.” “There’s no law controlling how high rent is increased,” he said. “We're pushing for rent control at two percent.” “People are feeling frustrated because most people don’t have money to pay rent (increase). We can’t afford that,” said Romeo Martinez,who lives at the Morley Street Apartments. The San Diego Tenants Union organized the protest and march. The group marched to the management office where someone came out to listen to their demands, but took no action. The management office says they will relay the groups' complaints to the owner. “We want to make sure we peaceful resolution as soon as possible,” Bautista said. “Today’s purpose wasn't really to get a decision, but we did a turn in about 25 to 30 letters from these tenants,” Bautista said. “We want to make sure we get a peaceful resolution as soon as possible.” 1695
