SHANGHAI, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang called for more efforts to accelerate China's urbanization Thursday, as part of the government's efforts to promote economic restructuring and expand domestic demand during this process.Li made the remarks at a training course in Shanghai, saying China's urbanization, which still has much room for expansion, is China's largest source of domestic demand as well as the largest potential driver for development.Further, urbanization would bolster domestic demand, improve people's livelihoods and solve rural problems, Li said.Li noted that China would coordinate development among cities and towns, and step up development of cities in China's central and western regions, while prioritizing development in eastern cities.Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang (6th L, front) poses for a group photo with the participants of a training course on urbanization, in Shanghai, east China, June 24, 2010. ZURICH, Switzerland, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo and Doris Leuthard, president of the Swiss Confederation, held talks on Sunday and agreed to expand their bilateral cooperation.Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), delivered Chinese President Hu Jintao's regards to Leuthard. He said China will work together with Switzerland to push forward the Sino-Swiss ties.The Chinese and Swiss economies are highly complementary and have large potential in economic cooperation, said Wu. China expects to make joint efforts with Switzerland to strengthen cooperation in such areas as financial service, environmental protection, green economy and low-carbon technology while deepening cooperation in traditional fields, he said.Leuthard highly commended the progress in Sino-Swiss relations in recent years.She said Switzerland, which is one of the earliest western countries to establish diplomatic ties with China, gives great attention to a friendly cooperation with China and is willing to deepen the bilateral ties. Switzerland regards China as an important partner and looks forward to carrying out cooperation in environmental protection, energy-saving and sustainable economic development, she added.She reaffirmed the Swiss government's stance on one-China policy.During the talks, the two leaders also exchanged views on global issues such as financial crisis and climate changes.Wu is here on an official goodwill visit to Switzerland. He is set to leave for Geneva to attend the third World Conference of Speakers of Parliament later on the day.

BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the country's top economic planner, refuted on Monday recent reports online saying China is mulling adjustments of electricity prices, claiming such reports "untrue" .The NDRC said in a statement on its website that recently there were reports online saying the NDRC was studying plans to adjust electricity prices, citing Li Jing, deputy head of the Department of Resource Conservation and Environmental Protection at NDRC. Reports said she has not given the timetable for the plan.The statement further said she never made such remarks to media and the reports were groundless.The NDRC began a rise in the price of electricity for non-residential use by 2.8 fen (0.4 cents) per kwh on average nationwide on November 20 last year, with residential electricity prices unchanged.
