Or they're too young to realize what's going on.The last thing Hurt remembers from that day is pulling into the parking lot. She later learned a customer found her slumped over in the car and called 911.It took officers two doses of Narcan, the drug used to reverse an overdose in an emergency situation, to revive her."Had this woman not passed out from this and attempted to drive right afterward, she could have (driven) down the road, passed out two minutes later and hit a car with a family in it, killed every one of them," Hope Town Marshal Matthew Tallent told CNN at the time. "That's the thing that's so shocking to me to think about."What happened nextAfter a brief hospital stay came jail. Hunt had violated her probation from a previous charge in 2014.While she was waiting for her sentencing date, a local reporter requested an interview. Then another asked, and another.She didn't think much of it at the time. She found out why when she was watching the evening news.A police officer had snapped a photo of her passed out in the car. It soon went viral."I felt very humiliated, I felt very angry," she said. "You know, it was hard for me to truly believe that it was me."Hurt's story fits into a grim pattern, as research shows heroin use is on the rise in the US. The most recent United Nations' World Drug Report found that 914,000 people aged 12 years or older reported using heroin in 2014 -- a 145% increase since 2007.Where she is nowHunt has been fighting addiction all her life, she says."I had been an addict since I was 15 years old," she said. "It wasn't until I was 21 that I began seeking help -- and I was failing at it. "The overdose, captured in the photo, led to Hunt getting clean.She was sentenced to six months of intense rehab in a locked-down facility -- one that focused on the underlying issues of addiction and how to cope with them.She's part of WRAP (Women Recovering with a Purpose), a program that requires continued meetings with a therapist, a sobriety coach and multiple "self care" classes such as Narcotics Anonymous every week.Now, she works more than 40 hours a week at a local factory. The largest nutrition study in the world could change the way people eat as researchers indicate that your genes aren't the reason for your weight loss or gain.Susan Kim, 49, an Illinois mom, wife and teacher who was flat out fed up, and tired of struggling with her weight, a problem she's battled her whole life.“I was scrolling through my phone one day and I saw this study that I started reading- and I was intrigued,” Kim said.She admits she also wanted to prove a point to her husband of 20 years."He has maintained if I would only eat what he eats then my problems would be solved and there’s sugar in his food too and that’s a lie. That’s not the key,” Kim said.She signed up to be a part of The Predict Study commissioned by King’s College in London. A research team sent her everything she needed, including a box with a way to submit her blood, saliva and glucose.Researchers say the Predict study has allowed them to predict an individual's response to food.“The study showed us there’s no such thing as an average person-when it comes to food, we’re all different and unique and this is not something that food manufacturers or anyone else wants to tell you they want everyone to be the same,” Dr. Tim Spector, who is a senior researcher.Spector and his team of scientists gathered huge amounts of data, using Zoe, a data science company, and artificial intelligence to personalize nutrition.“The idea was to come up with enough information from research from very large studies around the world- and put it together in a format used in advertising and internet based procedures that would come up with algorithms that would tell an individual what the best way to eat is,” Spector said.The team worked off of probabilities, but they also have lots of new technology to use.“We can look at your gut microbes in a very detailed way,” Spector said. “We have glucose monitors that will tell you what your glucose level is. We’ve got finger prick tests people can do at home that will tell you what your blood fat is doing. We’ve got exercise monitors, sleep monitors and apps that record everything you’re doing and how you’re feeling every minute of the day.”There were identical twins in the study who had different responses to food. Hollywood actress Dame Emma Thompson also participated in the study."She has a big interest in health in general and as an actress, is always conscious of her health and her weight and wanted to find out more about nutrition,” Spector said about Thompson. “She claimed to have been on every diet under the sun and wanted to learn what the latest cutting-edge science was.”Spector says Thompson is doing well and is thoroughly enjoying what she's learning about her body. The Gwinnett County Police Department says it has fired an officer for violating policy in a now-viral arrest in which he used a stun gun on a Black woman.In a press release, the department said that it had fired Officer Michael Oxford on Friday, adding that he "violated our policy and did not meet our core values."The video, which has been viewed thousands of times on TikTok, showed Oxford using the stun gun on the woman as he attempted to take her into custody.According to a police report, the incident occurred on Aug. 18, when Oxford responded to a 911 call in Loganville, Georgia. The caller claimed that a woman had thrown a bottle at their home and threatened a 9-year-old child.Oxford then went to the suspect's residence and encountered a woman he recognized from surveillance footage.The Gwinnett Police Department says that people at the home immediately began yelling at Oxford when he approached. According to a police statement, Oxford "attempted to speak with her about the incident but was unable to do so because the defendant in this case, Kyndesia Smith, began yelling at him."That's when the now-viral video begins. It shows Oxford threaten to arrest Smith, 22, if she doesn't stop interrupting. He then attempted to place Smith under arrest and tried to grab her by the shoulders.Eventually, Oxford ordered Smith on the ground. After she didn't immediately comply, he used his stun gun on her. The Mountain West Conference became the second conference from college football’s top division to postpone the 2020 football season citing coronavirus concerns on Monday.As part of its announcement, the Mountain West also announced that all fall sports will be postponed.Curt Apsey, the director of athletics at perennial Mountain West power Boise State, supported the decision.
