Those working from home could soon have the option of moving their home temporarily to the island nation of Barbados.According to the Barbados Government Information Service, the country is working on a 12-month “Welcome Stamp” that would allow “persons to come and work from here overseas, digitally so, so that persons don’t need to remain in the countries in which they are.” Prime Minister Mia Amor Mattley said the concept is being refined right now.Barbados is an island on the southeastern side of the Caribbean.“But in order for those things (long-term travel to and from Europe or the U.S.) to truly resonate, what does it mean? It means that what we offer has to be world-class and what we continue to offer is world-class,” Mottley said.The prime minister also called on those living in Barbados to help by doing their part during the pandemic. “If the first tourist is a Bajan, then they must equally, also be the first promoter and the first protector,” she is quoted as saying.Barbados has reported 103 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic started, and seven deaths from the virus. The island has a population of just under 300,000.Her comments came during a reopening of a restaurant in St. Lawrence Gap on the south side of Barbados.Curfew restrictions in Barbados were lifted in July, and beaches and parks do not have limited hours. This is almost double the percentage of remote bookings over the holiday weekend in 2019.The most popular getaway locations in the US over the holiday weekend are ones with water access or traditional fall foliage; including Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Big Bear Lake, California, Wilmington, North Carolina, Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Orange Beach, Alabama.After a slow summer travel season, with road trips and flights down year-over-year, AAA is reporting many will be heading out of town over the Labor Day Weekend. The YMCA of Metro Atlanta shut down both locations of its overnight summer camp after a staff member tested positive for coronavirus.Since then, other campers and staff have tested positive.The local YMCA says Camp High Harbour learned a counselor at its Lake Burton location tested positive for coronavirus on June 24.The counselor was immediately sent home, and camp leaders decided to close the Camp High Harbour campgrounds there and at Lake Allatoona.The Georgia Department of Public Health says at least 30 confirmed cases of the virus have been identified from camps at those lakes.The local YMCA notes the camp worked with the CDC and the American Camp Association when it was reopening the camp amid the pandemic. 730

The teams are supplemented by professional players signed by MLB squads, and are paid a much smaller salary than their big league counterparts. While MLB has decided to push forward with a shortened season starting July 23, Minor League Baseball’s revenue model would have made it impractical for a 2020 season given most of its revenue comes from gate attendance, concessions and merchandise, compared to MLB which sees a sizable revenue stream from TV.Even though the majority of Minor League Baseball players will not play in 2020, MLB teams have formed “taxi squads” of their top minor league players.
