A 36-year-old Washington woman is claiming that a DNA test she took on Ancestry.com showed that her biological father was her parents' fertility doctor, the Washington Post reported. According to the Washington Post, Kelli Rowlette's DNA test claimed that she had a parent-child relationship with Gerald E. Mortimer, a fertility doctor in Idaho. Rowlette said she did not know her mother used artificial insemination. The doctor had diagnosed Rowlette's father with low sperm count and her mother with a tipped uterus. Mortimer recommended inseminating Rowlette's mother with sperm from both her husband and an anonymous sperm donor. According to the Washington Post, the couple asked for a donor who was at least 6-foot-tall, in college and had brown hair and blue eyes. Mortimer had told her parents that he used a match for the sperm donation. Mortimer did not meet Rowlette's parents standards for sperm donation. Mortimer was also listed as Rowlette's delivery doctor, and signed her birth certificate. A lawsuit has been filed in federal court against Mortimer for fraud and medical negligence.To read the Washington Post's full report, click here.  1273

(KGTV) - Wait times at Southern California Department of Motor Vehicles offices have some drivers traveling hundreds of miles to avoid long lines.The DMV in the high desert town of Needles has some of the shortest lines in the state, KABC reported. When a news crew arrived at 10:30 a.m. Monday, there were only two people waiting in line."It's really nice. Not like back at home in L.A. County," one customer said to KABC.RELATED: New system and REAL ID to blame for long DMV linesAlthough the DMV's long lines are infamous, the situation worsened when the DMV started processing information for California’s REAL ID. The modified license will be required for travel in some states and access to secure federal facilities after October 1, 2020.A spokesperson for the DMV said the agency is monitoring wait times at all 172 field offices across the state."Generally speaking, the busiest offices tend to be the ones located in major metropolitan areas," spokesperson Jaime Garza said to KABC. "Offices in the rural areas tend to be less crowded."RELATED: California DMV now taking applications for REAL IDTo improve the wait times in San Diego, the DMV recently extended hours at several local offices and added Saturday hours. There are also self-service kiosks to speed up the process.A recent check of wait times at the Hillcrest DMV showed customers with appointments waiting 15 minutes for services. Those without appointments had a wait of two hours and 20 minutes. San Ysidro, Poway, San Marcos and Chula Vista had the longest wait times. His latest was in Minnesota on Wednesday in front of thousands, a day before he announced he tested positive for COVID-19."Rolling into the last month the president was planning to be on the campaign trail, in front of large crowds, where he thrives, the venue where he performs the best, and this is certainly an obstacle to that style of campaigning," said Thad Kousser, a political analyst at UC San Diego.Kousser said depending on what happens, an already political virus could make for different conclusions from each side."It'll confirm the worries that Joe Biden supporters had that the country and the nation and its president weren't taking the pandemic seriously enough," Kousser said. "If President Trump, as we all hope has a quick recovery, I think that will confirm the belief that the Trump base has that this is something that we can overcome."Kousser says he expects Joe Biden to continue to campaign on the road, but even more carefully.He says if either candidate were to become incapacitated it would make for an even more chaotic election because ballots will have already started going out.Kousser says each party has policies in place to select a replacement candidate should the need arise.
