(KGTV) -- Summer is nearly here, and the County is preparing for pests. On Wednesday, the first rounds of larvicide will be dropped on 48 rivers, streams ponds and waterways. In previous years, crews sprayed neighborhoods by hand to fight mosquito-borne illnesses like Zika and West Nile viruses. This year, the County will use a helicopter to drop the batches or solid, granular larvicide on the waterways that cannot be treated by hand.The drops will take place about once each month of mosquito season (April to October). Mosquito larvae that ingest the larvicide will be killed, but the larvicide is not harmful to people or pets. The list of waterways equals just over 1,000 acres from Chula Vista to Fallbrook and from Oceanside to Lakeside, according to the County News Center. Protect yourself from mosquitos 864

(KGTV) - It will soon be easier to enjoy your favorite Disneyland foods during a day at the park.Disney will soon roll out a new mobile ordering service for food through its Disneyland App. With the new feature, guests will be able to place orders while at the park without waiting in line to order. Here's how it works: Guests use the app to place a food order at any participating restaurant and select an arrival time window for pickup. Guests will be notified when their order is ready for pick up at a designated window. A big winner in this year's election was the marijuana industry, as five states approved some form of legalization.Mississippi approved it for medicinal use. Arizona, Montana and New Jersey approved it for recreational use. South Dakota approved it for both and became the first state to approve both forms of marijuana in the same election.The Drug Policy Alliance says it never expected the support in some states, but hopes it sends a message to lawmakers in Washington D.C.“It doesn’t just stop at marijuana reform,” said Matt Sutton with the Drug Policy Alliance. “People are really seeing drugs as being something that shouldn’t be criminalized in the U.S. and they definitely took that with them to the ballot box.”Changes could happen on the federal level. Congress was supposed to vote on the MORE Act in September. (KGTV) -- The brother of San Diego hiker Paul Hanks is talking about his ordeal in Joshua Tree National Park. The best news they have to share with the public - Hanks is expected to make a full recovery. "Sunday was his birthday, he turned 54," said Dr. Steven Hanks, his brother. "He likes to take a hike on his birthday so he had gone out to Joshua Tree National Park after spending the morning with (our) mother."RELATED: Missing San Diego hiker found injured in Joshua TreeThe 54-year-old left San Diego on Sunday, March 11. His brother said he was reported missing on Tuesday, March 13 after he failed to show up to a meeting with his ex-wife in Las Vegas. Hanks' truck was found near the Maze Loop and Hanks was found by a member of the Joshua Tree Search and Rescue crew on Thursday, March 15. According to his son-in-law, Hanks broke his ankle and fractured his skull after falling 20 feet. He was missing for four days and buried himself in the sand to stay warm, drinking rainwater to stay hydrated until he was found."He had a very harrowing experience. It's a compelling story of survival and we were just stunned when they found him," Hanks' brother said. "I think he's just incredibly thankful to be alive." When asked if he thought the experience hiker would ever return to Joshua Tree National Park, his brother said:"I think he'll absolutely go back. I do know if he goes back, he won't be going back without a satellite phone...a flare gun," he said, smiling. "He really thought he was going on a minimal risk venture.
