POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) - Restaurants and bars in Poway are back in business after a boil water advisory forced them to shut down for nearly a week. The precautionary advisory was lifted Friday evening for the roughly 190 businesses. Mike Hamama owns Giant New York Pizza. He's still surprised it happened. "At first, I thought it was a joke, cause it's never happened after 32 years being in Poway," said Hamama.RELATED: Poway could face fines as water boil advisory continuesPoway's mayor and the Chamber of Commerce are launching restaurant month beginning on Wednesday. They're urging people across the county to come to Poway and "Eat big. Tip big."Business owners said they'll take all the help they can get."It's really bad, it's really bad . You're losing customers, and then when you open, it's going to be slow, cause it's not routine anymore," said Hamama. Hamama and roughly 20 other business owners paid the nearly 0 fee to get a modified permit from the health department, allowing them to open before the advisory was lifted, but with several restrictions. Wednesday, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors will discuss reimbursing owners for that fee. In another setback, Hamama and others learned their insurance won't cover their losses.RELATED: Poway server gets ,000 tip after restaurant reopens"They said nothing, you're not covered only for damage, and fire," said Hamama.George Nasrawi and his family own Victor's Kafe. Monday afternoon, they were busy catching up on catering orders."My main concern during this whole thing was the employees not being able to work, especially with the holidays coming up," said Nasrawi. The advisory was issued after some residents reported brown water coming out of their faucets. City officials say a backed-up storm drain spewed run-off into the city's clearwell reservoir during the recent storms. Business owners said they understand the need for the advisory, but questioned its length."You gotta have safety first, especially when it comes to water, you don't want another Flint Michigan thing," said Nasrawi. 2087

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday a "surge" of federal forces to cities around the country as part of Operation Legend: an initiative to reduce violent crime in several cities across the country.President Trump announced the Department of Defense will immediately send federal law enforcement agents to Chicago and Albuquerque. He said offices and agents from several federal agencies will head to Chicago to help local efforts. He said officers were headed to other cities, but only mentioned those two cities by name on Wednesday. He also announced M available in grants for municipalities to hire officers as part of Operation Legend. "We will not defund the police, we will hire more great police," President Trump said. On July 8, Attorney General William Barr launched the initiative by sending federal agents to Kansas City, where violent crime is up 40% since last year. At least 100 murders have taken place in the city so far this year.Among those murdered in Kansas City was 4-year-old LeGend Taliferro, who was killed by a bullet as he slept in his bed. Operation Legend is named for him. LeGend's family attended Wednesday's press conference and shared their endorsement of Operation Legend."We want justice for our son, and for others," LeGend's mother, Charron Powell, said at Wednesday's press conference. "Operation Legend is not to harm, harrass ... it's to solve crimes." Barr said Operation Legend is the result of more than a year of work to create anti-crime task forces in large cities around the country. He said these officers are "classic crime fighters" and are not part of efforts to protect federal property. However, not all cities have been receptive to the Trump administration's plan. Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has signaled she would not welcome the agents, and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio has threatened to file a lawsuit to keep the agents out.On Wednesday, mayors from 13 major U.S. cities signed a letter asking Barr and Acting Homeland Security Sec. Chad Wolf to remove the agents from their cities. The Trump administration has already deployed federal agents to the streets of Portland in the hopes of quelling anti-police brutality protests in the city. The agents' presence in the city has ratcheted up the intensity of protests in recent days, as agents have deployed tear gas and have been seen hitting and punching protesters.According to Customs and Border Patrol, its agents were sent to Portland as part of President Donald Trump's executive order aimed at protecting monuments and statues — not as a part of Operation Legend. 2597

President Donald Trump held a news conference from the White House briefing room Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET.The briefing followed Joe Biden’s announcement that he picked Sen. Kamala Harris to be his running mate.Less than three months before the election, Trump is losing the popular vote in nearly every major national poll. He is also falling behind in state polls in several key battleground states, including Michigan, Pennsylvania and Florida.Although Trump fielded questions on the election, the lack of agreement between the White House and Congress over a stimulus package is something on the minds of many Americans. Extended unemployment benefits expired two weeks ago, and it’s unclear whether an executive order Trump signed last week can actually go into effect to deliver a 0 a week unemployment supplement to millions of out-of-work Americans. While there is broad agreement over implementing another ,200 stimulus check for most Americans, the sides have largely walked away from negotiations, leaving questions on whether Congress can actually deliver another stimulus package for Americans. 1117

President Donald Trump on Friday said that he is ready to sign an executive order that will offer unemployment supplements, eviction protection, and a payroll tax holiday through the end of the year. Trump said the order could "by the end of the week," and that he has lawyers currently drawing up the order. The executive order comes as Congress has stalled on negotiations with the White House on another round of stimulus funds. It also remains questionable how some of his edicts will be funded without Congressional authorization."You always get sued," Trump said, dismissing concerns that the orders are not legal. His announcement comes as unemployment remained above 10% in July for the fourth straight month.Trump did not specify how much the unemployment supplement would be for, but it would be retroactive to the beginning of the month. Previously, a 0 a week supplement for unemployed workers expired on July 31.Trump announced that his executive order will continue a freeze on federal student loan payments until further notice. He also said he will continue a moratorium on evictions through the end of the year. And his executive order would implement a payroll tax holiday through Dec. 31. 1218
