ADELAIDE, Australia, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- China Giant Pandas Wang Wang and Funi arrived at Australia's Adelaide airport on a chartered jumbo jet from China on Saturday. The pandas were welcomed at their new digs in the Adelaide Zoo after arriving in a climate-controlled semi-trailer escorted by police.     They will spend the next 30 days in quarantine in their specially built enclosure at the Zoo before going to the public on Dec. 13.     The CEO of Adelaide Zoo Dr. Chris West and the Cultural Councilor of Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Australia Ke Yasha with a crowd of about 100 local people greeted them at the Airport.     Ke said, "Nearly 400 Chinese people welcomed the arrival of the Giant Pandas in Chinatown despite the poor weather." BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua)-- Premier Wen Jiabao admitted Sunday that it'd be good if lending by Chinese banks had not been growing on a too large scale as a result of the government's immediate response to the global financial crisis."It would be good if our bank lending was more balanced, better structured and not on such a large scale," he said in an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency.     Wen said the State Council had noticed the problem in the middle of the year and moved to correct it. "It has been improving in the second half of this year," he said. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao (L) smiles during an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency at Ziguangge building inside Zhongnanhai, an office compound of the Chinese central authorities at the heart of Beijing, capital of China, Dec. 27, 2009    Credit expansion was one of the "unexpected difficulties" China had encountered in dealing with the worst crisis in decades, Wen said.     The State Council had to learn from past experience, detect problems and make persistent efforts to fight the crisis effectively, he said.     Wen said it was too early to grade China's performance in tackling the crisis because it was far from over and much work was yet to be completed.     He admitted that the State Council had time in the second half of the year to calmly reflect on the problems arising from the emergency response to the economic crisis.     The State Council had thoroughly discussed measures to cultivate new economic growth points, especially relating to emerging strategic industries such as the Internet, the green economy, the low-carbon economy, sensor technology and bio-pharmacy, he said.     "I think one of the linchpins for the world to overcome the economic crisis is wisdom, and, most importantly, science and technology," he said. BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese diplomat told reporters Wednesday a substantial content is more important than the title of the outcome of the forthcoming climate talks in Copenhagen, Denmark.     The key to success of the conference is to uphold the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Kyoto Protocol, the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities" and the Bali Road Map, said Yu Qingtai, special representative of the Foreign Ministry for the UN climate change talks.     "No matter what the title of the conference outcome will be, we must follow the principles of the UNFCCC and the Bali Road Map," Yu said.     He said China's determination in coping with climate change has never wavered and it has never relaxed efforts in this regard though the global financial crisis has posed a severe challenge for the country's economic growth.     However, it is unfair to make developing countries shoulder the same responsibilities as rich countries on emission reduction, Yu said.     "The principle of 'common but differentiated responsibilities' is the foundation for international cooperation, and denial of the principle undermines the basis for international partnership," Yu said.     "Common but differentiated responsibilities" was set up in the UNFCCC, which was signed by more than 150 countries in 1992.     In less than two weeks, the 15th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC will open in Copenhagen to renew greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets set by the UNFCCC Kyoto Protocol, the first stage of which expires in 2012.

BEIJING, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Tuesday urged efforts to reinforce Party building at grassroots organizations so as to give full play to the Party's leading role in building civilized and harmonious neighborhood.     In a meeting on the study and implementation of the Scientific Outlook on Development, Xi urged members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in city's neighborhood committees to promote local development and safeguard social stability. Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping (2nd L), also member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau, speaks at a symposium on the study and implement of the Scientific Outlook on Development in Beijing, capital of China, on Oct. 27, 2009Xi, also member of the Standing Committee of CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, said neighborhood committees played a significant role in dissolving social conflicts and promoting social and economic development in urban areas.     Party members at grassroots organizations should find out people's complaints and help solve their problems, and do practical things for them, he said.
