Nevada Highway Patrol has found the driver who hit one of their patrol cars on Monday.It happened around 5:03 p.m. local time Monday. A trooper was conducting a traffic stop on U.S. 95 northbound near Summerlin Parkway. Both vehicles were stopped on the right shoulder when another vehicle disregarded the Move Over Law and hit the trooper's vehicle.The collision resulted in the door being almost torn off. The driver of the other vehicle kept going.After the hit-and-run driver was found Tuesday, the person was ticketed but not arrested. She was issued citations for driving without a valid license, hit-and-run property damage and failure to stop and render aid, all misdemeanors.Fortunately, the trooper was not injured.NHP released body-camera video of the incident.  801

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Orlando Ortega posted a Facebook video of his now-former co-worker, Eileen Marcinkowski, calling him the N-word Sunday. The video has more than 150,000 views.But the owner of the restaurant where the incident took place said the video doesn't tell the whole story. “The lady in the video he actually did hit. She had blood on her face, she was bleeding," said Jane Thursfield, owner of Cactus Jack. Thursfield said Ortega provoked the fight when he punched Marcinkowski in the face after he was let go by the restaurant. Scripps station WFTX in Fort Myers could see no evidence of blood on Marcinkowski's face in the Facebook video. The owner said even if Marcinkowski was provoked, the racial comments were not OK. “No, no, of course not," Thursfield said. "No, we don’t condone that at all.”Other customers, like Johnny Samz, who said he regularly eats at Cactus Jack, agreed. “I don’t think it’s ever good, for anybody to use the N-word," said Samz. "I don’t care what the circumstances are.” WFTX's Jasmine Minor asked since Ortego no longer worked at the restaurant, if Marcinkowski would face the same fate. “She is still working here, yeah," said Thursfield. "I have not been here long and she’s working, but we will obviously address that.” The owner said the incident took place "off-the-clock" and "off business property." NEW YORK (AP) — Actor Carol Sutton, a fixture on stages in her native New Orleans, has died from complications from COVID-19. New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced the death. Sutton was 76. Her roles included the 1989 comedy “Steel Magnolias” and the TV series “Queen Sugar.” After making her acting debut in the late 1960s in Dashiki Project Theatre productions, Sutton appeared in productions such as “The Last Madam,” “Native Tongues” and “A Raisin in the Sun.” Her recent credits included work on the remake of the series “Roots,” “Treme,” “True Detective” and “Lovecraft Country.” 599

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak shared on Friday that he has tested positive for COVID-19.The governor's office said as part of a regular testing protocol Gov. Sisolak underwent a routine test on Friday in Carson City and a rapid test provided a positive result.The governor also received a diagnostic PCR test and those results were pending, according to the governor's office.Currently, the governor says he is not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms other than earlier in the week feeling fatigued. And at that time he attributed it to his schedule."It was important to me to notify Nevadans as soon as possible of my positive COVID-19 test results. I am currently not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms and I have returned to my residence to begin the quarantine and isolation process. Shortly after the test result came back, I underwent a disease investigation interview with Carson City Health and Human Services," said Gov. Sisolak. "I want to thank the health officials who assisted me through this process. They serve as a strong reminder of how proud we should all be of our State’s public health workers. With my case, I want to underscore the importance of Nevadans to stay at home as much as they possibly can at this time. There were more than 1,800 new cases identified in Nevada yesterday and cases are growing at a rate of 1.3 percent or, 1,402 new cases per day."Prior to Friday’s test, the governor had received negative results on all previous tests – including his last two regular COVID tests conducted on Nov. 2 and Nov. 6, according to the governor's office.Consistent with guidelines from the CDC and the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, the governor will isolate and continue to monitor his symptoms.
