(KGTV) -- Two local families are now connected in a special way, thanks to Lifesharing, the organ donation group serving San Diego and Imperial Counties. Lifesharing arranged a meeting between a North County family and the man who received their son’s heart.Mathieu Bergeron died last May after a tragic skateboarding accident. The 20-year-old was a registered organ donor.Bergeron’s heart saved the life of Dr. Murray Alsip, who was suffering from a heart condition that made it difficult to walk and, at times, to even breathe.Alsip said he had “one foot in the grave” before he was saved by Bergeron’s precious gift.The family meeting was both joyful and emotional. “Caught on camera” moments are fun to watch.  They can also be important evidence when they show people breaking the law.Radius Security in Vancouver, Canada, has developed new technology to help police catch suspected criminals in the act."Every single night we are getting one or two apprehensions on one of our sites across the country," said Joel Luyt, a site security specialist with Radius Security.“We have 15 computers inside our unit,” said Luyt.  Radius Security’s cameras use those computers to scan for humans.  The technology disregards other things that might move, like tree branches, animals and rain, that would normally set off a false alarm."So they're looking for oscillating arms. They're looking for head movement, torso and they're deciphering, 'is that a human?'"  said Luyt.By reducing the number of false alarms, more officers are available to respond to an actual crime.Car dealerships and construction companies hire Radius Security to keep watch for burglars, who can make off with expensive spools of wire or copper tubing worth thousands of dollars.Bernie Godler runs Performance Construction and says the new technology has proven more reliable and cut down on false alarms."A full-time manned security gets very expensive. It seems that you know, having a full-time manned security would actually be better but it isn't because we're finding that we get guards that end up falling asleep on the job site. We actually had one job where the manned security was in cahoots with the people who were stealing the stuff off the job site," said Godler.A study said false alarms cost the U.S. nearly billion dollars.  94 percent of alarms turned out to be false, tying up valuable police time when there is no burglar.Radius says it helps police capture the bad guy, like one man who hid in a porta potty, about 60 percent of the time. This technology also lets the security company route a live feed from the security camera to law enforcement's cars."They can punch in a four-digit code into their vehicle while they're driving to the site and they can see live what our monitoring station is seeing so they'll know where the criminal is on the site and they'll see what he is doing live on video and get there in an even faster time.,” said Luyt.Right now, this technology runs upwards of ,000 a year, which is too expensive for many.  But, Luyt expects that eventually, the computer system will get smaller and be more cost-effective to keep your home safe.The company plans to expand this year to the United States, both in San Francisco and Chicago. 2639

(KGTV) – Military officials said search teams identified the location off San Clemente Island where an amphibious assault vehicle sank last week, resulting in the deaths of eight service members from a Camp Pendleton-based unit.I Marine Expeditionary Force said Tuesday the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit and Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group “positively identified on Aug. 3 the location of the amphibious assault vehicle (AAV) that sunk off the coast of San Clemente Island on July 30.”Officials also said the Navy's Undersea Rescue Command “confirmed human remains were identified with remotely-operated video systems aboard HOS Dominator, an undersea search & rescue ship. The Navy has expedited the movement of assets to recover the remains of the Marines and Sailor, and raise the AAV.”Military officials said the AAV was participating in a training exercise when it started taking on water for unknown reasons at around 5:45 p.m. on July 30. Officials confirmed the AAV sunk 385 feet upon taking on water during a shore-to-ship manuever.Seven members of the Camp Pendleton-based crew survived the accident. Medics took two of them to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla, where both were admitted in critical status. One was upgraded to stable condition as of Sunday night, Marine officials said.The other five rescued Marines received clean bills of health and returned to their units.Lance Cpl. Guillermo S. Perez of New Braunfels, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Perez was a rifleman with Bravo Company, Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.The 15th MEU, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force and Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group worked for nearly two days to locate more survivors, but they concluded the search-and-rescue operation Saturday after 40 hours of searching across 1,324 square miles.The other eight lost service members were identified as:-- Pfc.
