(AP) — A California man has been arrested over allegations that he and his partners ran a billion Ponzi scheme that targeted people receiving pensions.News outlets report the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Future Income Payments LLC owner Scott Kohn on Saturday in San Diego. The 65-year-old has been on the run since March when authorities in South Carolina secured fraud indictments against him.Court filings say the company provided cash advances to veterans and others that would then be repaid by their pensions. Traders weren't told the advances had interest rates that could top 240%. HAYWARD, California (AP) — Robots that can flip burgers, make salads, and even bake bread are in growing demand as virus-wary kitchens try to put some distance between workers and customers. Starting this fall, the White Castle burger chain will test a robot arm that can cook french fries, corn dogs. The robot, dubbed Flippy, is made by Pasadena, California-based Miso Robotics. In June, Flippy began working full-day shifts - 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at CaliBurger in Pasadena.“We have demonstrated that Flippy can work on our standard equipment and meet high volume demand with substantially greater cooking consistency than our kitchens that have not yet installed Flippy,” said Tony Lomelino, Chief Technology Officer of CaliBurger in a press release. “Additionally, we have developed a program to retrain our restaurant staff to serve as ‘Chef Techs’ that work alongside Flippy and monitor the related software and hardware systems. (AP) — Police in Alabama on Saturday were searching for a gunman whom they believe was responsible for shooting two teenagers at a shopping mall on Thanksgiving night.The incident began with a fight and shooting in suburban Birmingham at the Riverchase Galleria, a mall crowded with Black Friday bargain hunters. An 18-year-old was shot twice and a 12-year-old bystander was shot in the back.An officer responding to the scene then shot and killed 21-year-old Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford, Jr. of Hueytown.
