VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – Authorities have released surveillance footage showing Naya Rivera before her disappearance and the 911 call that led to the search for the "Glee" star.Rivera is presumed dead after disappearing while boating with her 4-year-old son at Lake Piru in Southern California.The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office says Rivera rented a boat at the lake Wednesday afternoon and went for an excursion with her son. Thursday evening, officers released security camera footage of the two at the boat launch.Boaters tell authorities that they later found Rivera’s boat drifting in the northern portion of the lake with her son sleeping onboard. A woman called 911 and notified law enforcement of the situation."The emergency is: We have a missing person," an employee of the rental boat business said. "We found a little girl in one of the boats by herself, and the mom's nowhere to be found."The 911 caller initially said the boy was a girl, because of his long hair, KCBS reports.Rivera’s son told investigators that he and his mother had been swimming in the lake and he had gotten back on the boat, but his mom didn’t.Authorities say the child had a life vest on and an adult life vest was found on the boat. The child is healthy and with family.Since Rivera’s disappearance, authorities have been using helicopters, boat crews, divers and unmanned aerial vehicles to search the lake, but there’s been no sign of Rivera yet.Thursday evening, the sheriff’s office announced that the search for the actress has turned into a recovery mission and that she is presumed dead.“Investigators believe Rivera drowned in what appears to be a tragic accident,” the office wrote in a press release.Rivera is best known for her role as Santana on the Fox TV show “Glee.” She appeared in nearly every episode of the musical comedy drama since 2009. 1856

TULARE COUNTY, Calif. (KGTV) -- Three Cal Fire firefighters based in San Diego were injured after the engine they were riding in flipped over, ABC30 reports. The incident happened around 8:30 a.m. near Avenue 56 and Road 250 in rural Tulare County, the station reports. The driver of the engine reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to flip over and injuring four firefighters. Three firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital following the rollover. Cal Fire says two of the firefighters have since been released while the third will remain in the hospital overnight for observation. The crew is based in San Diego and were heading home from battling the Creek Fire when the crash took place. 719

United Airlines announced Wednesday plans to return 25,000 flights systemwide during the month of August in hopes that more people will resume traveling. Despite the massive number of flights being added to the schedule, United said that it will only run 40% of the number of flights it ran in 2019 in August.Domestically, United plans on adding 600 flights, meaning it will run 48% of its US flights in August. United projects that only 30% of US flights will fly in July compared to 2019."We're taking the same data-driven, realistic approach to growing our schedule as we did in drawing it down at the start of the pandemic," said Ankit Gupta, United's vice president of Domestic Network Planning. "Demand is coming back slowly and we're building in enough capacity to stay ahead of the number of people traveling. And we're adding in flights to places we know customers want to travel to, like outdoor recreation destinations where social distancing is easier but doing so in a way that's flexible and allows us to adjust should that demand change."On Tuesday, Delta announced the addition of 1,000 flights systemwide in July. The ingredient can also cause liver failure."It's kind of horrible to think about because it's common knowledge — everyone gives their dog peanut butter," Laura Lovely said.Lovely said it's devastating to learn her dog Sweetie's favorite snack could send her to the emergency room."Whenever she wants kind of a healthy treat, because it has a lot of protein, and when she takes her medication," Lovely said.It's a food Lovely said she and Sweetie both enjoy."Xylitol is a wonderful low calorie sweetener for you and me but it can be deadly for our dogs," veterinarian Dr. Christopher Byers said.It's not just in peanut butter. Byers said you'll find xylitol in a number of products."Certain brands of peanut butter, toothpaste, certain gums, certain breath mints," Byers said.He said your dog can be exposed to it by accident."One of the more common gums that we encounter in the emergency room is Orbit," Byers said. "Orbit is a great product, but it does contain xylitol."Within a half-hour, he said, your dog's blood sugar will start to plummet."They can be lethargic. They can collapse. They can even have seizures," Byers said.So it's essential for all dog owners to check labels, he said."I think it's awful," Lovely said.
