(KGTV) - Work to repair two washout areas near the train tracks on the Del Mar bluffs will lead to a partial rail closure this weekend, the North County Transit District said Wednesday. A project team was able to move up the repair timeline from January to Dec. 14-15, according to the NCTD. The washouts were first reported during a storm over the Thanksgiving holiday. All rail operations from the Solana Beach train station to Santa Fe Depot downtown will be halted and replaced with bus bridges for COASTER trains. (KGTV) - About 400 horses displaced by the Lilac Fire will move back to their original home at San Luis Rey Downs next week, according to trainers at the Del Mar Racetrack.The horses have been living in Del Mar's stables since the fire tore through the downs on December 7. Nearly 50 horses died in the fire, and several trainers and stable workers were also injured.Del Mar has become their second home in the four months since."I joke that it's like losing your home and being put up in a proper hotel,"' says trainer Ed Freeman.He has 16 horses living at Del Mar and says he's not sure what the emotions will be like returning to the site of one of the worst days of his life."I'm a little worried it will be stressful for the workers," Freeman says. "Our barn isn't there, we'll be in a new spot. But it's still going back to the scene of the crime."Del Mar racing officials had targeted mid-April for the move-out. They need their stables back to begin preparations for this summer's racing season. Nearly 3200 horses will be using the track to train and race over the next few months."It's vital for Del Mar for people to have a place to bring in young horses that are going to be beneficial during our race season," says Racing Secretary David Jerkens.But, he adds, Del Mar was happy to help out."Sometimes it takes a tragedy to see the good in people," says Jerkens.A GoFundMe page run by Del Mar and Santa Anita Racetrack helped raise more than 0,000 to take care of the horses, trainers and workers displaced by the fire. It can be incredibly powerful for those searching for their biological family, so we're going to be sending out 15,000 kits."DNA can connect people to anyone else who has already taken the test."Everyone receives matches. Whether you receive matches to your parents or siblings, it depends who's taking the test. Even if you don't as an adoptee get a match with the parent or the sibling you're looking for, we've seen so many cases where people have had a match with an uncle or even a second or third fourth cousin and it's through that match that they're able to close the loop," Mendelsohn said.One of the biggest concerns is privacy, people who've given up a baby for adoption who did so with an understanding that it would be completely private, not knowing that DNA technology years later could ignore that."For someone who may have over a long period of time built up expectations for whatever reunion would look like they would be very disappointed if it didn't go the way that they had hoped," said Ryan Hanlon with the National Council for Adoption. He thinks it can be problematic; some people don't want to be found and when people go looking it can end in heartache."For those instances where an individual doesn't want to be found or doesn't want to be connected to it can be disconcerting for them," Hanlon said.But others point to the examples of good outcomes times when people are able to reunite.That's why Silvas is looking forward to the possibility of finding her biological family even if there's a risk she will be disappointed."It's a need to feel connected with anyone else on this globe besides my daughter," she said. 3034
