If you have done business with the city in the past three years, you may be due funds from to ,797. Any check uncashed after 6 months becomes unclaimed. “We want to refund every single dollar of unclaimed money,” said Fanela Espiritu, Disbursements Manager with the Department of Finance. “A simple search is all it takes to verify if you were issued a check that has gone unclaimed. There is no charge to search the data or to file a claim.” There are more than 2,100 accounts, city officials said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) —  Christmas came early for Haley Proctor; a soon-to-be single mom and hospital corpsman with the U.S. Navy, based at Camp Pendleton."Thank you so much. I appreciate it!" Proctor exclaimed as she received a re-furbished 2017 Toyota Corolla.Before she arrived, the Corolla was loaded with items from a simple wish list: Diapers, baby clothes, a stroller, a car seat, and a teddy bear in a blue vest. All are the same color as the car. It's much needed transportation. "Drive back & forth to work and take my daughter to daycare and go to the grocery store and things I was doing on foot," she said. "They did. They did it in blue; it's my favorite color. So awesome." A small town girl from Indiana, where it's snowing now, Haley was grateful on many levels. The Armed Services YMCA, Caliber Collision, and Allstate Insurance weren't finished; presenting her with a check for 00 dollars."It's gonna make my life 2,000 times better!" she added. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Two families will forever be connected after an organ donation saves the life of a woman struggling with heart disease for nearly a decade. Susan Amador's son, David Rivera died, at the age of 30, in 2017 of a brain bleed, caused by a rare clotting disorder. The 30-year-old left behind a 4-year-old and his fiancee. Rivera was a registered organ donor and his organs helped save the lives of five people. His heart was donated to a woman named Sandra, of Chula Vista. On Monday, Rivera's family met the woman who now carries their loved ones' heart. The meeting was made possible through Lifesharing Donate Life, an organization that coordinates organ and tissue donation in San Diego and Imperial Counties. Rivera's mom hopes her story will encourage more people to sign up to be organ donors. 824

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - USD head men’s basketball coach Lamont Smith is free Wednesday pending an investigation on domestic violence charges in San Francisco.The San Francisco Police Department released Smith's mugshot from Sunday's arrest. Smith was taken into custody at the Oakland airport just before the team was set to fly home from a game.Smith is accused of three domestic violence charges involving a woman at the team's hotel late Saturday night. But a former SEAL from San Diego is turning the tables, writing a book about success in business called, “Taking Point: A Navy SEAL’s 10 Fail-Safe Principles For Leading Through Change.” In the book, author Brent Gleeson uses the principles of teamwork he learned in SEAL training and how that culture can lead to success for any growing company. These days you'll find Brent Gleeson in a blazer, on a stage, speaking all over the world to business leaders. But just a few years ago Gleeson’s attire of choice was desert camo, accessorized with the most high-tech equipment as a member of the world's most elite fighting force. However, before his time as a SEAL, Gleeson was in graduate school at SMU in Dallas, he worked in finance, and was an entrepreneur. The blending of those two lives led to this. His newly released book, “Taking Point.”     "It's not your typical SEAL book that gives you some leadership philosophies but actually teaches you how to successfully lead lasting change in any company or organization," said Gleeson.The book contains simple philosophies derived directly from his experience training for and on SEAL combat teams.
