(KGTV) -- Local businesses struggle to survive as the pandemic drags on, and more restrictions are expected across San Diego county.Farideh Sandahl opened Blusandz boutique on Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach in 2017. Last week, she shut her doors for good."Heartbreaking, frustrating, it felt like a relief, as well," said Sandahl.Sandahl said they made it through the initial shut down in March, but when COVID-19 cases surged in the summer, they couldn't recoup their losses."After the fourth of July, things just dropped. It was like a ghost-town," said Sandahl. The Design District on Cedros Avenue is home to dozens of unique shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. Before the pandemic hit, the business owners were holding monthly outdoor strolls with live music."Leaping Lotus and The Belly Up, they were our lifeline. They were like the places to go," said Sandahl. The Belly Up is currently holding shows online, and Lotus, formerly known as Leaping Lotus, closed in June."With COVID, it really killed that area," said Sandahl.A few doors down, Caravan West and Curve Couture are advertising going out of business sales.Sandahl says she'll continue working in the fashion industry."When I see people wear the clothes outside of my boutique, I was like oh, I sold that to them!"She'll still sell her clothes on her website blusandz.com [blusandz.com]"I learned, I learned what not to do, I learned what to do, and I've learned to continue with your head up and your tunnel vision on your goal," said Sandahl. 1518

(KGTV) -- NBA star Kawhi Leonard is suing Nike, claiming the sportswear company committed fraud by claiming ownership of a logo he created. According to the lawsuit, the logo included his hand, the initials “KL” and the number 2, which he wore for much of his career. As part of an endorsement deal with Nike, Leonard allowed the company to use the logo on certain merchandise while he continued to use the logo on non-Nike goods. The lawsuit also claims that, without Leonard’s consent, Nike filed an application for copyright registration of his logo and “falsely represented in the application that Nike had authored the logo.”As part of the lawsuit, Leonard is seeking a “declaratory judgment of non-infringement and that Leonard is the author of the logo and Nike, in registering for the copyright of Leonard’s logo, committed fraud on the Copyright Office.”Leonard played for the San Diego State Aztecs and is currently a forward for the Toronto Raptors. 969

We have a comprehensive approach to test security and go to great lengths to make sure that the test scores we report are accurate and valid. In all our efforts, we’ve worked to strike a balance between thwarting those seeking an unfair advantage and providing testing opportunities for the vast majority of students who play by the rules," wrote Associate Director of Media Relations Jaslee Carayol in an email."As part of our comprehensive approach, after every test administration, we take additional quality control steps before scores are released, including conducting a comprehensive statistical analysis of certain test scores. If we determine students have gained an unfair advantage, we will take appropriate actions, including cancelling test scores and, in some cases, prohibiting them from taking another College Board assessment. To protect the security of our tests, we cannot comment on the specifics of question usage and test administration schedules."RELATED: Report of student cheating may have led to AP debacleThe SAT, or Scholastic Aptitude Test, was created in 1926 to serve as a benchmark for the academic performance of graduating students.
