(KGTV) - Solutions for Change is working to combat family homelessness in North County.They've recently opened 33 new apartments in Escondido and are building 33 more affordable housing units in Oceanside.There's a waiting list of around 200 to 300 families to get in the program. (CNS) - A suspected unlicensed and intoxicated driver who allegedly struck and killed a Fallbrook woman while she was walking with her husband, then fled the scene and sold the involved vehicle, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that include gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.Pascual Cristobal Pascual, 34, of Fallbrook, is accused in the Dec. 10 death of 60-year-old Symone Conley, who was struck by a pickup truck that veered out of a traffic lane on Gird Road near Laketree Drive and jumped a curb, according to the California Highway Patrol.Conley died at the scene.Following the deadly impact, the motorist pulled over and remained in the area for a short time before driving off, the CHP reported.Deputy District Attorney David Uyar said Pascual purchased alcohol about 15 minutes prior to the deadly crash and purchased more alcohol during the weekend following the crash.Pascual was arrested three days after Conley's death, but not before he allegedly sold the vehicle involved in the crash."Not only has he demonstrated his willingness to flee and evade justice, but also to attempt to destroy evidence in the process," Uyar said.Investigators identified Pascual as the alleged hit-and-run driver based on physical evidence at the scene of the traffic fatality, statements from the victim's husband and "numerous calls and leads," CHP public-affairs Officer Mark Latulippe said.At his arraignment, San Diego Superior Court Judge Amalia L. VISTA (CNS) - An ex-con who stole a car with a 6-month-old baby inside from an Escondido shopping center pleaded guilty to felony auto theft and was immediately sentenced to four years in state prison on Monday.Anthony Guerrero, 31, entered his change of plea during a hearing at the Vista courthouse. He also admitted that he was convicted of robbery in 2009 and 2015, said Deputy District Attorney Nicolette Estrada.Dispatchers received a call from the baby's mother at 10:06 p.m. on Dec. 4 saying that her Mercedes-Benz sedan was stolen from outside a 99 Cents Only store at the Civic Center Plaza Shopping Center on North Escondido Boulevard. She said her 6-month-old child was in the vehicle.A short time later, a police officer spotted the Mercedes in a parking lot in the 1200 block of North Escondido Boulevard, less than two miles from the shopping center where the car was taken, said Escondido police Sgt. Suzanne Baeder. As the officer approached, the suspect, later identified as Guerrero, got out of the car and ran.He was taken into custody after he crossed the street and the baby was found inside the car unharmed, Baeder said. 1153
