San Ysidro, CA (KGTV)- The border wait times to cross into the United States are significantly shorter Tuesday.According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection App, the wait times at the border in San Ysidro averaged around an hour depending on the time of day.In the last few days, border crossers reported waiting up to ten hours to cross into the U.S."A lot of people going to the border five, six hours before their work entry, it's been crazy," said Jose Montanez.Montanez is a married father of two. He lives in Tijuana, but crosses to work as a manager at a taco factory. He said the lines this weekend were especially bad, even in the pedestrian lanes."Four hours, five hours waiting in line, standing in line, you get tired," said Montanez.Last Friday, CBP began "adjusting operations" to focus on essential travel. To respond to the ongoing public health crisis and protect local southwest border communities, CBP is taking measures to discourage non-essential travel to and from Mexico to limit the spread of COVID-19 in the United States. Scooter company Lime is recalling one of its models from every city after realizing it could break apart while in use. The company says the model occasionally breaks "when subject to repeated abuse."The scooters were manufactured by a Chinese company called Okai, according to a Washington Post interview with Lime representatives. The Washington Post said it could not get in touch with Okai for comment.Lime plans to decommission any Okai scooters in its fleets.Those who experience the breaking scooter are typically leaving them where they break, and it has been difficult for the company to tally how many have broken, the Washington Post reports.This recall follows one issued a couple months ago stating some Lime scooters could catch fire. SANTA ANA (CNS) - Orange County was removed from California's coronavirus monitoring list Sunday, starting the clock for all public schools in the county to potentially reopen in early September.The state mandates a county must be off the watch list for 15 days before all schools can reopen. Orange County's data on hospitalizations and other key metrics have been moving in the right direction, with the rate of county residents testing positive for COVID-19 at 5-point-4 percent, below the state's desired threshold of 8 percent.Underscoring the positive trends, county health officials reported just 153 newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 and one additional death Sunday, bringing the county's totals to 45,954 cases and 897 fatalities.The data on hospitalizations continued to move in the right direction, with 380 people hospitalized and 111 of those in intensive care. Those numbers were 392 and 110 on Saturday, 397 and 117 on Friday, and 400 and 118 on Thursday, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.The county's case rate per 100,000 residents dropped from 92.9 to 90.2, which is still far higher than the California Department of Public Health threshold of 25 per 100,000 residents.The county has 29% of intensive care unit beds available, which is better than the state's 20% threshold.
