SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a teenage woman shot and injured at Sunset Cliffs updated her condition Friday.The unidentified 19-year-old victim was shot twice and left to die on the stairs near the ocean, a GoFundMe account set up by her aunt reported.A person walking near Ladera Street and Sunset Cliffs Blvd. found the woman bleeding the morning of April 12 and called police. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The family of a Navy sailor nearly killed in Syria is starting the new year with one less challenge.Over a year ago Navy EOD Tech Kenton Stacy was left paralyzed after an IED explosion. As Stacy was recovering in San Diego, renters were destroying the family’s Virginia home. “Just with everything we’re going through, it added stress. I just couldn’t believe how someone could damage our home and be okay with it,” said Kenton’s wife Lindsey.The home reeked of cigarettes, and the carpet, walls, and blinds were destroyed. When the EOD community in Virginia learned what happened in November they began to make repairs on the home.Julie Fish, a real estate agent with Signature Realty Select, also stepped in to help, taking over as the realtor.After reaching out for more help, people around the country offered money, time, services and resources. “These guys are...it’s like a brotherhood, there’s nothing they wouldn’t do for one another, and I like to think the wives are the same way,” said Fish, whose husband is also a Navy EOD Tech. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Gaslamp Quarter Association has plans to turn a section of Fifth Avenue into a pedestrian friendly promenade. The section affected would be from Broadway down to L Street, where the Convention Center is located. The change could help during big events like the week of Comic-Con and holidays like Halloween. “It’s kinda mayhem,” says Michael Carbone, director of the Chuck Jones Gallery. “As far as trying to get from one block to the other, it could take you 15 minutes.” Carbone says while he loves the crowds during Comic Con, the rent is so high downtown, his gallery is moving to Little Italy.Some suggestions under consideration, according to the GQA: putting in street furniture, plants, local art sculptures or murals and entertainment venues. “Well, the safety factor is you can just stroll, you don't need to look out for cars, and we don't allow bicycles either,” said Sue Meek, a tourist from Scotland who says similar areas function well back home. The Gaslamp Promenade project could allow certain hours for vehicle traffic, such as 3 a.m. - 11 a.m. The projected cost is currently million. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The California Center for the Arts, Escondido will host drive-in live concerts and a movie series this month.The concerts and movie screenings will be held at the former Nordstrom parking lot at Westfield North County at 8 p.m. Spaces for more than 250 vehicles will be made available and spaced apart to keep listeners distanced.The scheduled shows start on Aug. 14 with a showing of the classic musical Grease and continue on Aug. 15 and 16 with a performance by Jersey Boys stars Christian Hoff and Travis Cloer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Target cash registers suffered a nationwide outage Saturday, leaving some customers around the country sitting in line for hours.The company's corporate office said an "internal technology issue" shut down registers for about two hours Saturday, preventing customers from making purchases in store.Target added that the technology issue was not a data breach or security-related issue and that customer data was no compromised. By 2:30 p.m., Target said their systems were back online:"Target’s registers are fully back online and guests are able to purchase their merchandise again in all stores. The temporary outage earlier today was the result of an internal technology issue that lasted for approximately two hours. Our technology team worked quickly to identify and fix the issue, and we apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this caused for our guests. After an initial but thorough review, we can confirm that this was not a data breach or security-related issue, and no guest information was compromised at any time.
