Brian Jones, R-Santee, which extends immunity from liability for local governments that operate skate parks, the lawmaker announced Tuesday.Senate Bill 1003 follows a similar bill Jones wrote in 2015 while he was a member of the Assembly that provided a four-year immunity window for municipally operated skate parks. SEATTLE (AP) — Researchers say a London man appears to be free of the AIDS virus after a stem cell transplant. It's the second such success including "Berlin patient" Timothy Ray Brown.Such transplants are dangerous and have failed in other patients. The new findings were published online Monday by the journal Nature.The London patient has not been identified. He was diagnosed with HIV in 2003. He developed cancer and agreed to a stem cell transplant to treat the cancer in 2016.His doctors found a donor with a gene mutation that confers natural resistance to HIV.The transplant changed the London patient's immune system, giving him the donor's HIV resistance. 674

SANTEE (CNS) - A dispute between a 50-year-old man and his 49-year-old sister at an East County trailer park escalated Tuesday into a stabbing that sent the woman to a hospital and left her brother under arrest, authorities reported.The assault in the 8700 block of North Magnolia Avenue in Santee was reported shortly before 6 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.Medics took the victim to a trauma center for treatment of non-life-threatening cuts to her face, Lt. Chris Steffen said.Deputies found the 6-foot-tall, 230-pound suspect, identified as Joseph Bodenstadt, on Mission Gorge Road and took him into custody.Bodenstadt was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated mayhem and resisting law enforcement personnel.The reason for the latter charge and the motive for the alleged assault were not immediately clear.The suspect was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Monday afternoon. 991

SAN YSIDRO (KGTV) -- Business owners and commuters from Mexico are nervously waiting and watching to see what President Trump's next move will be. Tuesday afternoon, the president told reporters he is still deciding whether he'll shut down the southern border. Business owners in San Ysidro say just the mere threat is keeping people away. "There's a lot of workers who cross daily, and most of them live in Mexico, so that definitely affects them, but people who are in retail it definitely affects our sales because customers don't want to get stuck at the border like they did last time there was a 5 hour shut down," said Govinda Figueroa. She said when the border at San Ysidro closed in November, it took weeks to make up the loss. "Last time there was a shut down it actually affected our sales for the next two weeks," said Figueroa.Juan Cisneros lives in Tijuana, but walks to San Ysidro for work. He says the thought of the port of entry closing, even for a day, scares him. "If we work in Mexico, the money is not enough, that's why we have to cross here to have a better living, so that's the reason we cross most of the time, so it will change our lives," said Cisneros. During Tuesday's news conference, the president said in the last two days, Mexico has done a better job of stopping the flow of Central American migrants from coming through its southern border. Figueroa said she doesn't know what to think. "I think it's 50/50.
