SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Poway gun store is set to sell 1 million rounds of ammunition by the end of the year.It’s called the “1 million round month.” Managers at Poway Weapons and Gear Range are stocking up for the sale that begins on Black Friday. Customers can get their hands on all the ammunition they need before changes come to gun stores next year. The law, which kicks off in July 2019 says, in addition to a gun permit, gun owners will have to pass a background check to buy ammo.RELATED: March poll shows how San Diegans?feel about gun control“Then when they buy ammo we have to log into a database and report how much ammo they buy,” says Danielle Rudolph, Director of Sales Operations at the store.The data logged will then be sent to the Department of Justice. “We need to remain vigilant that guns and ammunition don’t get in the hands of people that shouldn’t have them,” says Ron Marcus with San Diegans for Gun Violence Prevention. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — After successive years of devastating wildfires, California's fire agency announced a plan Tuesday that would dramatically increase logging and other forest management efforts with the help of the National Guard.The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection released a list of 35 priority fuel-reduction projects it wants to start immediately across the state over roughly 90,000 acres. That's double the acreage the agency aimed to cover in the current fiscal year, CalFire Deputy Chief Scott McLean said.The agency is also seeking National Guard assistance to coordinate the work. They include removing dead trees, clearing vegetation, and creating fuel breaks, defensible spaces and ingress and egress corridors.The projects prioritize communities at high risk from wildfires but also with significant numbers of vulnerable groups such as the elderly or poor. They include work around the city of Redding, which was also devastated by wildfire last year, and in Butte County, where Paradise is located.An estimated 15 million acres of forest land in California are in need of thinning or other restoration work, so the 35 projects are just a start, Calfire officials said. San Diego (KGTV)- In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, hundreds are giving back in the best way they can. This morning volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clean up Balboa Park. 14-year-old Maya Hundley spent the morning planting flowers with her family at the MLK Day of Service Interfaith Project. "I think it's important any day to help out, especially today," says Hundley. "Instead of being lazy or taking it as an extra day off, you can use that time to make a difference in the world." More than 300 volunteers spent the morning cleaning up Balboa Park. "People are doing anything from planting trees and flowers to raking leaves and hauling brush," says Melissa Spence with First United Methodist Church of San Diego. The city's parks and recreation department was on hand, showing volunteers which areas needed the most care. The MLK Day of Service Interfaith Project includes Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Unitarians working together. This is the 11th year the group has come together for the event. "As people of different faiths, we recognize that God gave us this earth we're being called to care for it in the best way that we can," says Spence. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Witnesses are coming forward to share what they saw just moments after the fiery crash involving a green Lamborghini Sunday morning.Max Afifi, a taxi driver, was working nearby when he saw the commotion. Afifi took several pictures of the green Lamborghini completely engulfed in flames. He says firefighters were rushing to put out the fire. The San Diego County Medical Examiner identified the driver of the car as 33-year-old Michael Llamas, a medical marijuana entrepreneur.SLIDESHOW: Lamborghini crashes downtownAccording to Llamas' LinkedIn page, he helped found the company Medical Marijuana, Inc. They sent 10News the following statement about their former CEO:“The company has learned that Michael Llamas died in a traffic accident over the weekend in San Diego.
