He was on rotation at the Balboa Naval Hospital in the morgue as a Navy Corpsman.When he walked in that morning he described the horrifying sight, "there were body bags along the hallway and I was like, 'What is going on?" He said the initial shock stayed with him for months and to this day is his strongest memory."We did the autopsies over a couple of days and the smell just lingered," he said somberly.Photos from MCAS Miramar's archives capture the panic and pain. Around 10:30 a.m. one article says the pilot of an F-8 Crusader ejected after reporting low oil pressure and engine seizure. (AP) — A Mexican national was charged with murder Wednesday in the shooting death of a California police officer last week, prosecutors said.Gustavo Perez Arriaga was expected to be arraigned later in the day in Modesto, said John Goold, spokesman for the Stanislaus County District Attorney's Office. Authorities say Perez Arriaga was in the country illegally and had previous arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol.He was arrested Friday after a dayslong manhunt as he prepared to flee to Mexico, officials said. He is accused of killing Cpl. Ronil Singh of the tiny Newman Police Department, who pulled over the suspect Dec. 26 to investigate if he was driving drunk.The 33-year-old Singh was married and had a 5-month-old son. He was also an immigrant, coming to the U.S. legally from his native Fiji to pursue his dream of serving in law enforcement, authorities have said. He joined the 12-officer Newman police force in 2011.A complaint lists three aliases for Perez Arriaga, including one matching that of two brothers who were arrested on suspicion of helping him evade authorities. Five others have also been charged with helping him.The case has rekindled a debate over California's sanctuary law that limits cooperation with federal immigration officials. Mosinee (Wisc.) High School teen Jayson Goetz was the talk of his high school's prom after he showed up in green and gold Green Bay Packers suit covered with Packers logos and topped off with bright yellow pants and a Packers bow tie. Goetz, a Mosinee High School junior, said he and his friends didn't want to put on the typical, stuffy black tuxedo and blend into the background of prom. And he was glad he made the decision.“It was one of the greatest nights of my life,” Jayson told the Wausau Daily Herald. “I wish I could relive it a hundred times.”Goetz and his mom assembled the ensemble on Amazon.com and said the prom attire is a tribute to his late grandfathers—Mike Goetz and Phil Riedel, both of Mosinee—who died in 2017. “I wish they both would have seen (the suit),” Jayson told the Wausau Daily Herald. “I think they both would have laughed. Mysterious packages are popping up on Medicare recipients’ doorsteps and the Federal Trade Commission said it’s part of a rising scam."That’s a back brace,” Anna Miller, a 94-year-old Medicare recipient said as she rifled through a package delivered to her home.Inside the box was a back brace, shoulder brace, and a couple of other pieces of medical equipment, the items came bundled together in a box addressed to Miller."They must have thought I was in bad shape to send me both of them in one box,” Miller joked.She said she never ordered any kind of medical device."I thought it was terrible because I figured it was false,” Miller said.As it turns out, her Medicare account got charged for the back and shoulder brace. It’s a scam the FTC said is on the rise targeting Medicare dollars and personal information.Miller reached out to Medicare to see what was going on. "They just said they'd look into it and they questioned me,” she said.Medicare followed up, sending a letter confirming an investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the FTC is warning Medicare recipients to be aware.If someone calls and says they're with Medicare and offers you a “free” or “low cost” brace, hang up right away.Medicare will never call you with such an offer. Never give your Medicare or other personal information over the phone to anyone.If you do need a brace or medical equipment, talk to your doctor. Sellers on the phone don’t know what you need.Lastly, don't accept medical equipment you get in the mail unless you or your doctor ordered it.
