INDIANAPOLIS -- It was a busy day for police in Greenwood, Indiana on Monday after three accidents involving trains left three people injured. The three are expected to survive. No one was seriously injured in any of the crashes. The first crash happened around 12:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Pushville Road near E. Worthville Road. Police said no one was injured in the crash but the car was destroyed. The second crash happened just before 4 p.m. on County Line Road just east of Madison Avenue. Police said a woman driving a car came up to the intersection where a train was passing through and for some unknown reason did not stop. The woman driving the car was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries but is expected to be OK. The third crash happened near the same intersection.Police have not released many details about the crash but said that the person inside the vehicle was awake and talking when they arrived. That person was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. All three crashes remain under investigation. MORE TOP STORIES |?Pet raccoon, stoned off of too much weed, brought to Indianapolis firehouse. Incredible video captured by researchers at Florida Atlantic University captured the blacktip shark's annual migration off Florida’s southeast coast.FAU researchers refer to the blacktip shark's as the "snowbirds of the sea". The sharks migrate south during the cold months and head up north when the weather, and water, start to warm back up. They leave the north when water temperatures drop below 71 degrees Fahrenheit and start heading south.The video was taken by FAU researchers on February 27, right off MacArthur Park in Singer Island.“Last year, we saw a dramatic decline in the number of blacktip sharks that migrated south. In fact, it was so low that we estimated the population to be about one-third of what we have seen in previous years,” said Kajiura, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and director of the Elasmobranch Research Laboratory in FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. “We want to make sure that these snowbirds come back to South Florida, because if they don’t, it will have a huge ecological impact in this region.”  According to researchers, this year's video off of  MacArthur Park in Singer Island shows dramatically fewer blacktip sharks during migration season as compared to video footage from previous years.       Mary Stringini is a Digital Reporter for ABC Action News. It’s no secret we’re living in a very divisive time right now. It seems to be Democrats versus Republicans, or conservatives versus liberals. Whether it’s a family member or life partner, many of us are living with someone of an opposing viewpoint.In recent years, Jim Ryan has gotten used to playing pool by himself, but of course, he’d rather not play alone. He says in his old age he’s really appreciated having somebody else by his side.“I’m a widower and it’s nice to have a significant other that can help you out, and you can help them out,” Ryan said.Two and a half years ago, he met a new partner, but it didn’t take long to find out their political opinions were very different. He says he’s been a lifelong Democrat, and she’s a Republican. In a game of pool, if he were solids, she’d be stripes.“She said well, ‘Is that a dealbreaker since we’re opposite viewpoints?’ And I said 'Well, let me get back to you on that’ and we’ve been dating ever since,” Ryan said.Even though their feelings for each other are mutual, Ryan’s partner did not want to be identified in this story. He says she told him there’s too much tension between parties right now. Nonetheless, they have found a way to continue loving each other regardless of their political differences.“Politics, like religion, can be a game changer,” Couple's Counselor Ray Wynfield said.Ray Wynfield has been a couple’s counselor for nearly four decades. He says he offers advice to couples who politically disagree.“It’s a choice, people need to know it’s a choice. You can end a relationship over a church or religion, you can a relationship over politics – over Trump and Biden.”However, if you want to keep the peace between you and your significant other, or another family member, Wynfield says there’s a simple solution.“Don’t discuss it," Wynfield said. "Unless you can discuss it in a kind and respectful way where both people’s opinions and both people’s positions are respected.”Ryan says that’s something he often practices.“There are times where I have to bite my lip, and usually I’m the one that bites my lip,” Ryan said.According to Wynfield, if you and a loved one are struggling to get along in the midst of election season, you can work on skills to find peace between each other.“We need good communication skills, we need skills on how to be aware of our emotions, how to be aware of other people’s emotions,” Wynfield said.If you really do want to discuss politics, he says you shouldn’t react to another person’s views in a hateful way.“Even if you don’t like their candidate, even if you don’t respect their candidate, even if you think their candidate is evil, you don’t say that,” Wynfield said.In his 70 years of life, Ryan says he’s had civil conversations with people of opposing viewpoints. He’d like to see the same happen at the Capitol and all over the country.“I have a lot of friends that are lifelong Republicans and we get along just fine,” Ryan said.Above all else, Wynfield says we need to focus on the good our loving relationships bring us. He says there is so much more to each of us than our political affiliation.“What I hope people do in the next two weeks and after the election regardless of the results – that people can be kind and loving to each other and really appreciate the magic that they can have with a special friend,” Wynfield said. 3368

Infrastructure spending going to be a hot topic in the upcoming midterm elections, with many asking, how are we going to pay to fix America’s aging roads?Correspondent Nicole Vowell traveled to Rhode Island, the smallest state with some of the biggest infrastructure problems.The tiny part of New England spans only about 1,500 square miles and is one of the oldest states. Combined with Rhode Island being nearly 33 percent water, the state is fighting a tough battle to keep roads and bridges intact.Casey Dinges, director of the American Society of Civil Engineers, says one in four of their bridges is structurally deficient. That means, he says, safety standards are ramped up."That bridge will be inspected every year, instead of the standard every two years,” explains Dinges of one of the bridges in the area.The Ocean State may be facing the most worries, but Dinges says, overall, the U.S. just isn't that structurally sound.Last year, Rhode Island earned a dismal D+ infrastructure rating."We've been deferring maintenance and under investing in our infrastructure for decades,” Dinges says of the rating.Of the nearly 800 bridges in the state, approximately 200 of them are considered structurally deficient, which is costing taxpayers millions of dollars to fix.Dinges says for every family in the U.S., it amounts to about per day.The overall goal, Didges says, is for federal and local government to get on board and invest over the next 10 years to upgrade America’s infrastructure."The allocations for what the state needs has not been enough,” Dinges says. 1585
