So much has changed from just one week before the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown hit New York City.Though a lot has changed, the NYPD’s “Options” program still persists.“Options” bridges relationships between police and some of the city’s toughest neighborhoods.With a rise in shootings and violence, it is needed now more than ever.Just a few weeks before a worldwide pandemic and months before nationwide unrest over racial injustice and police brutality, there was NYC youth engaging in candid conversations with members of the NYPD.The program has been two years running and bridges the gap between the police and the city’s dynamic youth.“This is the new era of neighborhood policing, and we see that NYC has to open up a lot more and really start listening to the youth of tomorrow,” Det. Jason Anazagasty said.A virtual reality program was also created, scripted and voiced by “Options” teens.It includes real-life scenarios that play out through a virtual reality headset.Their choices on how to handle cyberbullying, violence on the streets and so much are on full display — as are the consequences of those choices.Det. SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. (KGTV) -- The search for a woman who owns a flower shop in Rancho Santa Fe has ended Monday night after authorities say Penelope Elizabeth Bax was found alive.Bax’s sister said she was spotted in Hirz Bay, a campground off of Lake Shasta, which has 6,200 miles of rivers and streams.Her sister says she thinks Bax ran out of gas in her Mercedes RV and her cell phone was dead.Bax was found dehydrated but stable and was airlifted to a local hospital. Her dog Walter is also being treated.The search for the 63-year-old began on March 31 after deputies with the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office learned that Bax was traveling to a family member’s home in Washington but hadn’t arrived yet.According to deputies, Bax left Vista on March 26. She was expected to arrive in Washington on March 29 but never showed up. 845

Since Sunday, federal immigration agents in Northern California have arrested over 150 people alleged to have violated immigration laws, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Tuesday. Half of them had criminal convictions, according to the agency.In the same statement announcing the arrests, the ICE Deputy Director Thomas D. Homan also lashed out at Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, who had publicly warned of the impending ICE operations the day before it began.Schaaf had issued a warning on Saturday and held a press conference the following day, announcing that she had learned that ICE would conduct operations in the Bay Area."I am sharing this information publicly not to panic our residents but to protect them," she had said. "My priority is for the well-being and safety of all residents -- particularly our most vulnerable."But Homan criticized Schaaf for what he described as her "reckless" and "irresponsible" decision."The Oakland mayor's decision to publicize her suspicions about ICE operations further increased that risk for my officers and alerted criminal aliens -- making clear that this reckless decision was based on her political agenda," Homan said in a statement.He said 864 immigrants with criminal records "remain at large in the community and I have to believe that some of them were able to elude us thanks to the mayor's irresponsible decision."Schaaf pushed back on ICE's criticism Tuesday."I do not regret sharing this information. JOSEPH, Mo. — The St. Joseph Police Department (SJPD) is investigating after a woman found a bomb on her front porch.Alexis Washington was up late with her newborn daughter and young son when she heard a loud pop and saw a flash of red light. When she came outside to check it out, she found the bomb on her porch."The cop told me then that the propane tank was leaking, there was ammunition on top of it with a paper towel that was lit on fire," Washington said. "A bomb? I just don't understand, like a bomb? You can't fight that. That's why it's just like you've got to go. I got to go."SJPD Cpt. Jeff Wilson said the bomb was definitely homemade.
