An alligator was spotted trying to climb the fence at Lely High School in Naples, Florida, Monday morning.Ray Simonsen, a.k.a "Ray the Trapper," was called in to get it.“Gators can climb. That’s why you can find them wherever, whenever," said Simonsen.Simonsen said he wasn’t surprised by what the gator was doing, but by how big it was.“I received a call that there was a 4-foot gator on property. I roll up and I get a big grin on my face, because that 4-foot was 7-foot 6-and-a-half-inch," said Simonsen. But that alligator Simonsen caught wasn’t the only one that got somewhere it didn’t belong on Monday. According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies had to respond to the Estero Parc Apartments, because an alligator actually got inside the building. The sheriff’s office posted a picture to Facebook, saying people were in the elevator when the doors opened, and a small gator was there to greet them. 923

An 11-year-old boy in Colorado is being called a hero after performing the Heimlich maneuver and possibly saving his younger brother from choking on his dinner.“So I got behind him went like this, pushed and pulled up about four times so the chicken could pop out and it did,” Elias Yatrakis told Denver7.Elias and his younger brother, Alex, were eating dinner on Monday night in their Greenwood Village home after a baseball game when the incident happened. The older boy says he knew what to do and jumped into action.“I was relieved. I was glad he was OK,” he said.“From my perspective, he saved his life,” mom Danielle Yatrakis said. “I’m just really glad he had the confidence and the knowledge to know what to do.”The 11-year-old had that knowledge because he had just recently learned what to do in a situation like this.“I am a Cub Scout so we had to take this CPR class in our basement and it taught CPR, the Heimlich,” he said. “I wasn’t really thinking. I knew what to do since I did that class.”Elias had earned his first aid badge as a part of the Cub Scouts just a few months earlier.“When he got the badge I’m like, 'that’s great to know,' but I mean I learned CPR before and I never used it. And so you’re kind of like they’re nice things to know and I now feel differently. That was really serious and important that he paid attention,” his mom said. The boys spent the evening after it happened with a lot of hugs and gratitude, according to their mom, but have since gone back to the same competitive young boys that they were before.KMGH's Jason Gruenauer first reported this story. 1609

An Apple Store in Sydney, Australia, was the first in the world to sell an iPhone 8.The store opened its doors at 8 a.m. Friday, local media reported, and ushered in a few fans who had camped out, along with others who woke up early. They were there to buy the new iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, as well as the updated Apple Watch and Apple TV.Lining up outside Apple Stores has become a tradition for Apple product launches. But the usual excitement is expected to be muted this year, with many customers choosing to wait until November to upgrade to the more expensive iPhone X. 585

An area of open desert south of Tucson Airport has commonly been referred to as the "Dogpatch." The land has been known to be a dumping ground for trash and dogs, and it has been going on for decades. Angels for Animals is one of many groups that over the years has tried to clean up the Dogpatch.A volunteer with the organization, Jason Gilliam, said that it is an issue that will never go away for good, but it can be managed. "If we make it out here without seeing a dead one, it's a good day." Gilliam says for every weekly visit; they'll find between three to five dead dogs. The Pima County Sheriff's Department says their efforts to stop illegal dog dumping depends on the number of reports they get from people in the area. Deputy James Allerton says as a community, it could be possible to clean up the Dogpatch one day.  877

An Ohio couple was stunned to find a Nazi symbol on a pizza they picked up from Little Caesars Pizza Saturday night.Jason Laska was running an errand for his wife and picked up a pizza from the Little Caesars in Brook Park.“I walked in. I said, ‘What do you guys have left?’ And they said a pepperoni and a cheese and I said ‘give me the pepperoni,’” Laska said.He told WEWS he paid for the grab-and-go pizza but didn’t look inside the box until he got home, but his wife said she was disgusted to find pepperonis carefully arranged in the shape of a backward swastika. So my husband stopped at #LittleCaesars for a quick bite, husband brings this home! I’m truly disappointed. This is truly saddening and disturbing and not funny at all! These aren’t funny jokes and shouldn’t be made period and on company time?! ???????????????????? pic.twitter.com/zQaXecN2se— misty laska (@LaskaMisty) June 28, 2020 “I look at it like with my head back a little and I’m like, ‘Oh My God,’” Misty Laska said.A spokesperson for Little Caesar Enterprises, Inc. denounced racism in a written statement and confirmed the employees responsible for the swastika were immediately fired.“We have zero tolerance for racism and discrimination in any form, and these franchise store employees were immediately terminated. We’re deeply disappointed that this happened, as this conduct is completely against our values,” Jill Proctor said. “We have also reached out to the customer to discuss this personally with him.”Jason Laska said he is stunned someone would have the audacity to create an image like that amid the current civil unrest in America.“These are the kinds of things that are continuing to fuel the hate and the confusion that exists in the country and in the world,” Laska said.He added he was contacted by both Little Caesar Enterprises, Inc. corporate offices and the franchise owner who apologized for an insensitive joke between employees.“Two of the employees kind of were, I guess, egging each other on, or one was egging the other on to play a joke on a third employee that was there,” Laska said. “That was why it was not cut or anything like that. They made it as a joke and it was never intended to go out to a customer, but it did.”The couple hopes the experience will be a teaching lesson for the employees who are allegedly under the age of 18.“What repercussions are they getting from that, just termination?” Misty Laska said, “When they can just go right down the street and find another job?”They told News 5 they chose to share their experience to encourage others to learn the history and hateful symbolism behind the Nazi slogan.“Even in a joking manner it’s absolutely unacceptable,” Jason Laska said.Misty Laska, who was the first to discover the hateful prank, encourages others to speak up when they hear or see people committing racist acts.“We’re trying to get rid of racism. It’s like, we’re done with that kind of stuff,” Laska said, “Just to remind people that keep saying, ‘There’s no racism,’ it’s like, yeah there really is still racism and right here is your proof.”WEWS' Emily Hamilton and Courtney Shaw originally reported this story. 3168
