With gyms across the country closing their doors during the COVID-19 crisis, many members are starting to feel the itch to exercise.“There’s a hole in my day now,” said mechanical engineer Scott Noble. To help fill that athletic void, Noble’s go-to gym, the YMCA is now offering dozens of virtual fitness classes for free.“Having it on your phone makes it possible no matter where you are,” said Caitlin Stackpool, YMCA Director of Community-Integrated Health. “So, for people who are starting to feel cooped up, this is going to give them another option to be active at home.”Stackpool is the Y’s director of community integrated health, and she also holds a Masters Degree in exercise science. Her focus is usually on face-to-face fitness; however, following the coronavirus shutdown -- she’s working on new ways to keep members moving during this time of self-isolation and social distancing.“Since we know that our members in the community are stuck inside, we wanted to make sure we had virtual options available,” she said. “So, we have Y360, which is fitness classes online led by YMCA instructors.”With more than 3,000 YMCAs across the country and tens of thousands of members, these kinds of online classes are helping people find their flow. Now other fitness experts are catching on. Personal trainer and group exercise instructor Josh Gamble (@joshgamblefitness) has been helping people improve their health for the past 15 years. When his gym in Nashville closed for coronavirus concerns, he took his classes online, providing live streaming workouts for his clients on YouTube.“In a sense, some of them are stuck at home,” Gamble said. “This gives them the chance to do something different and interact with people in a sense even though they’re not physically there, and they’re doing live.”Each day gamble focuses on different muscle groups, says no equipment is needed and that people don’t need more space than a yoga mat for a good workout.“Everyone was starting to panic when they found out we were going to have to close down, and they were nervous,” Gamble said. “It makes me feel great that so many people seem to enjoy. For people like Noble, these online fitness classes provide movements and motivation to help stay fit while stuck at home.“To have an hour where I’m just lifting weights and working hard and sweating and not thinking about things, it makes a big difference,” Gamble said.Significant differences are physically, mentally, and emotionally.“I’m a lifelong exerciser,” Gamble said. “It makes me happy.” 2550

"Top Gun" fans looking forward to recapturing that loving feeling with Maverick and the crew will have to wait another year.Paramount's "Top Gun: Maverick" has been delayed to allow for more flight training time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will now land in theaters June 26, 2020, instead of July 12, 2019.The sequel to the 1986 action hit "Top Gun" will see Tom Cruise reprise his role as "Maverick" and co-star Miles Teller.Teller is set to star as the son of fighter pilot "Goose," the friend opposite to Cruise's character who dies in the original film (spoilers, but come on. It's been years.)TMZ reported in May that Cruise was in San Diego on the first day of filming. Video captured by TMZ showed Cruise speeding down a landing strip on a motorcycle. The location appeared to be at Naval Air Station North Island on Coronado. The film is being directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also directed Cruise in the 2013 sci-fi flick "Oblivion." Cruise has said the sequel will retain the same style as the original and the film's musical score would be similar as well.Parts of the original "Top Gun" were shot in San Diego. Kansas City Barbeque has been rebuilt after burning down in 2008, though hosted some memorable scenes. An Oceanside home was used as the residence for Maverick's love interest, Charlie. Parts of the movie were also filmed in Bankers Hill and Point Loma. But for now, fans will have to wait to until 2020 to fulfill their need. Their need for speed. 1525

YouTube star Brooke Houts is the subject of a police investigation over a video that appears to show her abusing her Doberman.Los Angeles Police Officer Rosario Cervantes said the department's animal cruelty task force is looking into the matter but didn't offer further details.Houts posted the video to her YouTube channel, which has more than 330,000 subscribers. The video has since been taken down, though it's unclear whether that was done by her or by YouTube. However, viewers shared the video on social media, where it drew widespread criticism. In the 50-second video, Houts says she is attempting to prank her dog. "I put plastic wrap on the door. I'm gonna have him run out," she says. "We're just gonna see what he does."The video cuts, and Houts is then heard asking, "it doesn't faze you?" The dog jumps on her chest, and she responds by slapping him across the face.Later, Houts gets closer to the camera and engages in another altercation with the dog. She can be heard yelling "stop" and then appears to spit on the dog.Toward the end of the video, the dog attempts to get close to Houts' face, and she appears to lunge toward him, pushing him across the room.On Tuesday, Houts tweeted that she apologizes to anyone who has been affected negatively by the footage."Anything I say isn't going to make those who believe I'm a bad person stop believing that," she wrote. "And I'm aware of this."Houts adds that the way she appeared in the video is out of character for her."I want to clarify that I am NOT a dog abuser or animal abuser in any way, shape, or form," she wrote. "Anyone who has witnessed or heard true animal abuse will be able to clearly see that."She also denied spitting on the dog but said "I understand how it could look like I did."Houts said that her dog, Sphinx, is in need of costly one-on-one training and that she and her family are getting him a trainer.Neither Houts nor YouTube has responded to requests for comment about the incident or for details on whether there will be any repercussions on Houts' channel.According to YouTube's 2087

(CNN) -- Burger King is trying to get customers' attention with something a little different: Tacos. The burger chain started selling crunchy tacos on Tuesday. They cost in most places, but are more expensive in Alaska and Hawaii, and will only be available for a limited time.Burger King first tested out tacos in western states. "We've seen success with tacos in those restaurants and knew it was time to bring this west coast favorite nationwide," Chris Finazzo, president of North America for Burger King, said in a statement. The new item adds "variety" to Burger King's snack offerings, he added.Fast food chains use limited-time offerings to build hype and keep their brands top of mind with consumers. And tacos in particular are a good way to attract customers, said Neil Saunders, managing director of GlobalData Retail, a research and consulting firm."Tacos remain very popular with consumers," Saunders said, adding that fast food companies that wouldn't traditionally sell tacos may be "keen to get a slice of that action."Jack in the Box in particular has had great success with its taco. The item has been "a #1 seller and a fan favorite for years," Jen Kennedy, VP of product marketing at Jack in the Box, told CNN Business in a recent interview. She said the taco has been a "stand out distinction for us." Jack in the Box also just started selling tiny, bite-sized tacos, but it's too early to say how they're doing.Consumers are also flocking to Mexican chains for tacos. Taco Bell's parent company, Yum! Brands, reported that in the first quarter, sales at US Taco Bell restaurants open at least a year grew 5%. And sales at Chipotle stores open at least a year grew 9.9% in the first quarter. With its taco promotion, Burger King is likely trying to do more than just cash in on a specific, popular menu item, Saunders noted. It's also trying to create buzz for the brand with something unexpected."Some of it is marketing," Saunders said, adding that Burger King is adept at getting attention with creative menu innovations. For Halloween, the chain served a burger it claimed helped induce nightmares. More recently, to celebrate the third season of Netflix's "Stranger Things," it sold upside-down Whoppers in 1980s-era packaging. There is a possible downside to attention-grabbing stunts, even successful ones. They could distract Burger King from focusing on creating growth within its main menu, Saunders said."They have to be careful with some of these promotions," he warned. "Burger King can be very haphazard with the menu." That can be a good thing because consumers like to try new things. But "sometimes you get the impression that Burger King chases after the shiny objects rather than focusing on the core business."the best part of going out? getting tacos afterwards. introducing our Crispy Taco, only and only at Burger King. pic.twitter.com/sgMO2vODeZ— Burger King (@BurgerKing) July 9, 2019 2943
