SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police Thursday released a picture of the vehicle used in a deadly hit-and-run in Logan Heights last week. 52-year-old Maria Estrada Romero was hit while walking near Cesar Chavez Parkway on her way to a bus stop on November 15. Two days later, she died at the hospital. Police say the driver didn’t call 911, or stop to render aid to Romero. RELATED: Woman critically injured in Logan Heights crashThe vehicle used in the hit-and-run is described as a 1997 to 2004 white Ford F-150 truck with stock wheels. 10News spoke with family members about the crash Wednesday. Romero was a mother of five and grandmother of five. "Always really happy, an outgoing person," said Brianda Ramos.The family says they rushed to the hospital after learning Romero was struck by a hit-and-run driver. Basically left her right there," said Ramos.Family members say Romero had become famous in the area for selling tamales at parks and schools in Southcrest and Bay Terraces. Police say the truck had a tinted back window and a white California sticker. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect they say tried to kidnap a 13-year-old girl on her way home from school.According to police, the victim was walking home on the 700 block of Picador Boulevard near Montgomery Middle School in Otay Mesa West when she noticed she was being followed by a black van.The van pulled up next to the girl and opened the door when the man inside asked the 13-year-old if she wanted a ride home.The suspect then grabbed the victim by the wrist and tried to pull her into the van before she was able to escape and run home.A witness driving by saw the 13-year-old talking with the suspect and made a U-turn before seeing the victim run away.The suspect is described as a white male between 50-60-years-old with glasses, a full beard and a raspy voice. Police say the van had a “J” or a “K” in the plate. 870

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — North Park residents will celebrate this holiday season with an annual tradition intact — at least for one more year.For 56 years, the Toyland Parade has delighted crowds in North Park during the holiday season. But much like a parade balloon, financial troubles have loomed over organizers.Last year, the parade was briefly canceled after former-host Victoria House Corporation said it had lost support from sponsors. Then in March 2019, the community learned that a Victoria House Corporation organizer was accused of fraud and pocketing 2018 parade donations and fees after the cancellation.RELATED:North park donut shop defends homeless manSan Diego deputies share tips to protect your presents10 special holiday events coming to San DiegoNorth Park Main Street (NPMS), a volunteer-based non-profit, pledged ,000 to the parade. That donation and monetary support from the community helped 2018's parade continue as planned. NPMS has since taken the parade over, as well.But the parade is once again in trouble. Angela Landsberg, executive director with North Park Main Street, says support from the local Lions Club has saved 2019's parade, but 2020 is a different story."Our presenting sponsor North Park Lions Club have ensured that it's going to go off this year, but if we don't raise enough money this year to get us carried through our planning for next year, because these things take a long time to plan, then this will be the final year," Landsberg told 10News. The organization is asking for the community to once again step in to make sure the parade steps off on University Avenue next year. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- One person was killed and three others were injured in an early Saturday morning crash involving two cars along the southbound lanes of SR-163 in Balboa Park.The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on the Cabrillo Highway just south of the Quince Street overpass, according to the California Highway Patrol.The driver of a Lexus sedan rear-ended a Mazda sedan sending both cars off the highway. One of the vehicles tumbled down an embankment into a drainage ditch.The Madza was carrying two rideshare passengers in the rear seats, according to CHP. One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene, according to CHP. The other rear passenger was ejected out of the car causing the victim to suffer major injuries.Drivers of both vehicles are being treated for injuries.Investigators are working to determine the cause of the accident. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.All southbound lanes were temporarily shut down. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - New restrictions going into effect Sunday night limit restaurants, wineries and breweries to take out only, making them brace for the next three weeks.The new stay-at-home orders mandated by Governor Gavin Newsom were triggered due to the rapidly increasing number of hospitalizations from the coronavirus.Mike Hess, Chief Brewing Officer at Mike Hess Brewing, estimated this will be the fifth time his breweries have to shut down across San Diego."I've kinda lost track of the dates and times, I know we're just doing what we need to do to keep going," he said.Each time, he's reinvented the business, making hand sanitizer, selling canned beer to go and adding COVID-19 safety measures in order to reopen."This is tough, it's very hard on a business. It's very hard to manage a business that is reliant on a certain amount of cash flow and business operations," Hess said.Starting Monday they'll shut down again. This time he's transforming some of their outdoor seating at their Imperial Beach location into a drive through lane."People can cruise right in to that orange cone barricade, go right around Elm, right back up Ocean and pick up their tacos and beer right out of the back door which is right where the food comes out of the kitchen anyway so it's going to be piping hot," he said.Hess added the North Park location will also have a drive through option. He hopes they see enough take out customers in the next three weeks, the length the new orders last, to avoid any furloughs this holiday season."We have 80 families that work for Mike Hess Brewing and they're relying on us for a paycheck so the shut down is having a big effect," he said.Hess is frustrated the new restrictions target the restaurant industry when retail is allowed to open in a limited capacity.He is still holding a "Joy Drive" for the Jesse Rees Foundation, donating 25% of gift card sales through December 21st. 1927
