The Italians got to the Fallentine's home the night before the Fallentine's flew off to the Italians' home in Rome.“I took them to Costco. They bought all this food and then they said, ‘Oh, we're going make you guys dinner.’ I’m like, ‘Totally! I’m not going to pass up a meal by real Italians. I mean, that's crazy!’”Fallentine says when her own family home-swaps, having access to another home’s kitchen is one of the biggest cost-savers.“If you're thinking about the food aspect, just to be able to cook your own food is amazing and [you have a] full kitchen with everything you need,” she adds.Another perk is having access to a home's laundry room. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The man wanted for a shooting outside of an unlicensed marijuana dispensary in unincorporated El Cajon has been arrested.The San Diego Sheriff's Department (SDSO) issued an arrest warrant for 18-year-old Richard Anthony Bell, of El Cajon, on Dec. 8 in connection with the shooting four days earlier in the 1600 block of N. 2nd Street.A 16-year-old was shot outside of the illegal dispensary and taken to a nearby hospital, where the victim remains and is expected to survive. Members of the U.S. Marshals Service located Bell on Friday at about 11 p.m. inside a hotel and casino on the Las Vegas Strip. He's being held on million bail for attempted murder and awaiting extradition back to San Diego County.The shooting isn't believed to be related to the dispensary and is thought to be gang-related, SDSO said. 841

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The man suspected of driving into and setting fire to a Raytheon building in San Diego last month appeared in court Wednesday. Daniel Hector Mackinnon, 36, pleaded not guilty at his Wednesday arraignment. Mackinnon was charged with two counts of malicious destruction of a building by means of fire in late April. According to authorities, on April 24, an explosion occurred at the Raytheon building on the 8600 block of Balboa Avenue. RELATED: Man accused of slamming into Raytheon building federally chargedA complaint filed in federal court says surveillance video shows a Toyota Prius drive into the side of the building before a man can be seen in the back of the car. Authorities say the man then opened the back hatch when a fireball shot from the side of the vehicle and the man fled. According to the complaint, two empty magazine cartridges and remnants of a melted gas container were found inside the car. The Prius also had two different stolen California license plates. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Border Patrol says it has experienced a major uptick in violence at the border since the arrival of the migrant caravan. Assaults against agents are up 300 percent compared to this time last year, according to San Diego Border Sector Chief Rodney Scott.An agent was struck in the face shield with a rock thrown at the border on New Year’s Eve and was not injured. “These incursions are organized they are bringing people down there for the express purpose of provoking a confrontation,” said Border Patrol agent Joshua Wilson. RELATED: Mexico urges thorough probe into border tear gas incidentWilson is also the executive vice president of the local Border Patrol agent union in San Diego and says the incidents are indicative of why they need more border wall funding. “Having that barrier helps prevent many assaults on agents and that's something the public really needs to understand,” said Wilson, “It’s not just a border security measure it’s a measure for agents safety as well.” Border Angels director and founder Enrique Morones says his group doesn’t condone any violence at the border but he doesn’t believe it’s the immigrants instigating things. “If you’re going to be going across the border to seek asylum, why in the world would you be throwing rocks at the border patrol,” said Morones. “The people… have been reacting to the Border Patrol violence of teargassing and shooting rubber bullets at migrants.” Border Patrol officials say they do not release official statistics from the specific sector level, hence the percentage. 1575

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The H1N1 strain of influenza is the most prominent strain of the illness in San Diego and around the nation so far this flu season, according to local health officials.Of 1,730 confirmed cases reported in San Diego this season, nearly 94 percent are influenza A, the County Health and Human Services Agency reported Wednesday. Influenza A covers H1N1 and H3N2. During the year, H3N2, or the "seasonal flu," is the primary virus in circulation.This year, however, there are 10 cases of H1N1 for every case of H3N2, health officials said.RELATED: Political commentator dies in San Diego, contracts H1N1 flu and meningitisThe strain affects young to middle-aged adults more than other age groups. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention believes this is because older adults have been exposed more to H1N1 and younger adults tend to have lower vaccination rates."Older people have some element of immunity to Pandemic H1N1 because they’ve had more exposure to these influenza viruses than younger groups," said Sayone Thihalolipavan, county deputy public health officer, said.Last week, a 26-year-old woman visiting San Diego from Washington, D.C., died possibly due to H1N1 complications. She was also suffering from meningitis, though it's unclear if she had been vaccinated or suffered from any other underlying medical conditions.Another local resident, identified as a 49-year-old male, died of the flu, according to health officials. That man did have underlying medical conditions though it wasn't clear if he had been vaccinated.This season, there have been nine flu-related deaths, officials say, compared to 44 deaths at this time last season.Health officials advise the best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated, wash hands thoroughly and often, avoid going out if you're sick, and clean commonly touched services. Those with underlying chronic conditions, pregnant women, people who live with or care for others who are high risk, and those 65 and older are most at risk of catching the flu. 2041
